  • and liked it so much I ordered another one for the ...
Color: White
My aunt had this installed in her condo, and I noticed how well it flushed on such a small amount of water. I ordered one for my master bathroom, and liked it so much I ordered another one for the downstairs guest bath. I will be replacing my upstairs hall bathroom's toilet with one of these as well. Low water usage, great flush action, no problems at all. The very slick glass of the bowel seems to stay cleaner much longer than other, and the overall design is very clean. ... show more

  • Great Toilet hampered by CA low flow mandates
Color: White
We have three TYTO with which we are pleased. Last one purchased was extremely well packaged. Took almost as long to unpack it as it took to install. Each one we purchased over the past eight years had a lower flush capacity here in California. That means flush, scrub, flush 80% of the time. Every time I use it I’m reminded of the cheap feel of the seat. However, it is very sturdy, not at all flimsy and closes nice and slow. There is just a feel cheap sensation that takes away from the high quality ToTo Brand name, ... show more

  • You will never regret spending the extra money for this model - it is PERFECT in every way!
Color: White
Have 6 of this model (daughters' homes too) because it is just perfect! Flushes completely every time, stays very clean, and even easier to clean when you need to, and even much younger daughters like the slightly higher seat height. Very low water usage too. We tried a couple of other Toto models because of the Toto quality, but they aren't nearly as good as this model. One of the most popular (per salesman) has an awkward ledge just under the rim that is not easy to keep clean, and valve failed soon after installation. Customer service was great though; valve sent promptly. ... show more

  • Easy to install and usually works well
Color: White
This arrived this morning just as promised, well packaged and in perfect shape - kind of heavy, but Top Hat was happy to bring it into the house for us, and easy for us to drag into position from there. It was also easy for my wife and I to install, even though we've never done so before. One trick that helped was using kids' wooden blocks to pre-position the toilet over the mounting flange before lowering it into final position. I'd wondered about two piece versus one piece toilets, but am now a big fan of one piece ones. They do weigh more, but look better and are easier to keep working and clean. Ours required no adjustment at all, just connect and flush. Another concern was whether such a water-efficient toilet would flush everything, and the answer is absolutely yes, so far. As for the Sanagloss finish, I'm amazed at how well it works to keep everything clean. We noticed some left-behind color after one flush today, but after the next flush a few minutes later, the toilet bowl was as clean as if it had never been used. When there's only one gallon of water in the tank rather than the 5 gallons of our old toilet, it's amazing how quickly the toilet refills, and yet both flushing and refilling are quieter than the old one. The quiet-close lid also worked well, and also stays up better when we want it up than the one on our old toilet. I did need to go out and get 2 new mounting bolts, as the ones from our old toilet were in bad shape, and none were packed with the new one. Amazon had offered us some, but be sure to get the correct length and diameter for your existing mounting flange. (I picked them up locally today for under $3, but did have to use a metal saw to shorten them by a quarter of an inch to get their covers on properly.) Also be sure to get a waxless mounting kit (not included), as that makes it a lot easier to get everything positioned correctly, and is vastly less of a mess to clean up later if the toilet is ever moved. My one disappointment is that ADA height is about an inch higher than my short legs would prefer, so do confirm which height is desired before ordering. [Update: I was surprised to notice today (4/3/12) that at 17" from the floor to the lip of the bowl this ADA Eco Ultramax model is 13/16" higher than our otherwise very similar ADA Ultramax II toilet.] Highly recommended! Update: OK, we've had it in service for a month now, and still highly recommend this toilet. However, we have had to stop it from continuing to run (flapper in the tank didn't fully seat) once. No problem, as a normal fill takes only a few seconds, making it obvious when we needed to push the lever again to seat the flapper properly. Similarly, if waste manages to land out of the water in the bowl, it isn't entirely flushed away. That doesn't happen even as often as weekly, but when it happens, a quick touch with a toilet bowl brush is enough to clean up entirely. We've also been happy to notice our latest water bill is lower than usual. I expect our old toilet was leaking even more than we knew. Update2: When we decided to get another of these for our other bathroom, this model was no longer available direct from Amazon. We therefore ordered the similar model TOTO MS604114CEFG-01 Ultramax II Het Double Cyclone One Piece Toilet with Sanagloss, Cotton White , again directly from Amazon. So far as we can tell, the only functional difference between those two models is that in our original Eco Ultramax model the flush water comes out of tiny openings all around the rim of the bowl, whereas on the Ultramax II the water swirls from 2 larger openings. There is also a slight difference in the shape of the tank lid. As to which works better, we don't know yet, as the second only arrived today. [As of 4/5/12 we still consider both models equally effective. The Ecu Ultramax is a bit quieter, and as noted above, about 13/16" higher from floor to lip of bowl.] So far, we are very pleased with both our Toto toilets. Whichever model you buy, and whoever from, be sure to check the toilet before accepting delivery. The one that arrived today was Top Hat's second try, as they noticed last week's delivery was already damaged before delivering it to us, so cancelled the delivery. Amazon was great about sending another one out the same day with no hassle. One other note: the mounting bolts Amazon recommended worked fine, but at 2-1/4" again were a 1/4" too long for the cap to snap in place, so once they were in position, I cut off the excess length, this time using bolt cutters. Those worked better and faster than the metal saw I used on the first toilet's mounting bolts. Update3: I see this model is available direct from Amazon again. Ours has recently begun having two problems: 1) its chain hook can get caught sideways on the trip lever, rather than hanging straight down, which results in the toilet never stopping flushing until we correct the position of the hook; 2) sometimes the flapper no longer seats fully, resulting in a slow continuous leak until I reach in and push the flapper down firmly to seat it. We've had no such troubles with our other Toto toilet of a slightly different model. I'll be replacing the flapper of this one, as soon as I can find the THU253S model it requires (not currently available from Amazon.) Cutting one star from my rating, and slightly revising the title of this review to more accurately reflect a full year of use. ... show more

  • Great toilet -- arrived in perfect condition
Color: White
After doing a lot of research on the Internet, I decided to buy a Toto toilet. After seeing the prices from plumbing distributors online, I decided to buy our first large household item on Amazon--which had prices which were hundreds of dollars lower. I wanted to get the 1.6 gallon Toto Ultramax, but Amazon said it was not available due to packaging/shipping problems. Amazon did, however, have the 1.28 gallon Toto Ultramax. We are both in our early 60's so we decided to plan for the future and upgraded to the ADA height. I was a bit concerned about ordering the toilet on Amazon because so many of the reviewers stated that the Ultramax toilets from Amazon initially arrived in a damaged condition. However, because Amazon was no longer shipping one model because of this problem, but was shipping the one I was ordering, I took the leap and ordered from Amazon. I placed the order on a weekend and the toilet arrived yesterday, about 9 days later and 2 days earlier than originally promised. It was delivered on a tractor-trailer truck. It was packaged in a very heavy card board shipping box, which as strapped with 2 plastic straps to a wood pallet. After convincing the driver that he could in fact back his rig up into our mountain home driveway, the driver cut the plastic staps and unloaded the box on the driveway. There are two flights of stairs up to our cabin, so I insisted on uncrating it in the driveway before I signed for the toilet. If there had been a problem, I wanted him to take it back immediately. The toilet was in perfect condition. There were no cracks or chips in the toilet. Our plumber came yesterday afternoon and installed the toilet. It looks great in the bathroom and seems to be working fine. I am pleased that I decided to get this toilet from Amazon. ... show more

  • Have enjoyed using since Sept '21
Color: White
Have had installed about 21 months. All fine/good. REally liked. Just this past weekend, noticed water on the floor next to toilet, finally figured out that tank has cracked near top, down through mount hole for flush handle, continuing almost a foot (or more?) down from there. My wife and I live alone; rarely entertain. Nothing we can think of/remember about what could have happened to cause. Have reached out to Toto directly to see what their response is. ... show more
