Powered by a 52cc 2-cycle engine, this earth auger delivers 62-foot pound of torque that can power through any job. The welded steel handlebars protect the engine and components on the job and in transport. This versatile machine can be easily operated by 1 or 2 people to adapt to job site conditions and user experience thanks to the unique heavy duty handlebar configuration and dual throttle controls. With two users, tough conditions like dense soil and obstructions are easily overcome to keep the job moving. The Toro Earth Auger Combo comes complete with an 8-inch auger bit featuring a replaceable fishtail point for precision hole placement and a shock absorber to reduce the kickback when encountering large rocks and roots. Product shipped before the holiday weekend which I did not expect to receive so quickly... put it to work with the family and finished the fenced area in area in no time. Easy to start and ran without any hold back the entire weekend. Dug quickly through moderate soil and pushed threw a few rocks along the way = made light work of the task. Managed to put in a few plants around the house as well rather than digging holes with a shovel. Liked versatility of this tool to tackle the tough stuff along with the simple tasks. This machine is worthless. I have rented augers in the past so I had some expectations. This one is so weak it would probably only be good for digging through peat moss. Hit any rock or root and it just skips over the top of the rock and won’t dig further or the machine binds and stops. I can dig with a shovel and post hole digger faster. ... show more

This Toro Earth Auger is a game changer for us putting in our fence around our newly purchased homestead. We started off trying to dig with a shovel and that was not a viable option and very time consuming to do what we needed to. This auger rips through the sol with ease and while I did most of the digging with the 1 man option, it’s pretty sweet that you can use it with 2 users and have the throttle be in the right spot for the user. This is a heavy duty machine made very well. It gives you a 6 inch diameter hole and goes down about 3 feet. Add your mixed gas and start pulling, the first time starting this was a real pain, I think it just took a while to get the gas into the carburetor, I guess, but after the first start it was very easy. Definitely need two people to use this Auger, but makes it easier and faster than using a shovel. We are going to use this for fence post holes, plants & bushes. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. So, a few things about this auger. It feels like a true,heavy-duty piece of equipment. I like the two throttle handles, making it easy to engage the auger, from either side,by myself, or with a second person. It came with enough oil to mix the first tank of the fuel/oil 2 stroke mixture. But, I noticed right away, that the digging tip of the auger has a *blob* for want of a better word, of metal that leaked during casting, or melted, or put too much metal into the die cast, or something. Whatever happened, one entire half of the digging point/tip, is not sharp; it is blunt and dull- defective. We didn't know how it would affect the performance of the auger, but, decided to try it out. The tip cannot easily catch on the soil. So, after about 7 inches of loose soil was dug away, the auger would not dig any further down at all, once the dirt was a little harder. Not even at full throttle. It also wasn't pulling the dirt up and out either. I took a picture of the defective auger tip, as shown above. Maybe with a correctly casted tip, it would work fine. I am pretty disappointed. This Toro auger is exactly what you would expect from Toro. Quality build, runs very well. Unless you are very strong, I would say this is a 2 person machine, the handlebars are definitely built that way.

    • Very handy tool
We needed to move over a dozen rose bushes from our backyard to the front. We moved a couple before we got the augur, and boy was it a pain. Each one took hours to do. Once we got the augur though, it was a breeze. We were able to finish it up in just a day. Without this augur, we probably would have needed to spend a week. The augur is powerful but easy to use. We have clay dirt which is harder than regular dirt, and this had no problem drilling the hole. This thing is a real time saver. Highly recommended. ... show more
