These bulbs are sold for getting more light out of your garage door opener setup. I read in reviews before buying that they worked in regular sockets but not garage door openers and sure enough thats the way it was. I turned off the power (VERY IMPORTANT) to the opener and looked inside the socket. Both the ground and hot contacts were pressed tight against the side and bottom. I took a small hooked tool and carefully pulled each contact out about 1/8th inch from where they were resting. Screwed the new bulb in and turned on the power. Bingo worked like a charm. 5000K daylight in my garage with no melting of the new lens. TURN OFF THE POWER BEFORE YOU TRY THIS!!!!! ... show more

I recently had my garage door opener serviced. The technician advised me not to use regular LED bulbs because they can interfere with the remotes and cause problems. He told me there are newer bulbs made specifically for garage door openers. That's why I ordered these from Amazon. So far so good! Been having issues with my older Genie Opener, and even after cleaning the ground wires and adding Dialectical Grease to slow the corrosion on the wires, it would open but wouldn't always close. Prior too the cleaning it wasn't doing either. I had forgotten that I had changed from regular old bulbs to LEDs not thinking of the signal interferances ( which is sad considering I was IT for over a decade working with Networks and Computer Hardware ). These have been allowing it to work propperly for a few weeks now! They are also nice and bright! ... show more

I've had these LEDs installed in my garage door opener and not had a problem yet with opening the garage door from the street. With my previous LEDs, I could open the garage door from the street but these new ones seems to be doing the job.

Regular LED bulbs interfere with the garage door opener, since they are near the same frequency. TORCHSTAR LED bulbs do not interfere with the garage door opener. The reason I bought these bulbs is because regular LED bulbs were interfering with the garage door opener.
