Honest review on how to use this product! This is a temporary occasional solution to the appearance of baldness. It only works to a certain degree to Cover not eliminate baldness. If not applied correctly you can tell that there is a filler on the scalp. The worse your bald spot the worse this product will work. Buying the applicator will allow for a bit better even coat of the fibers however the applicator fits on top of the large container only not this one. This is a trial or travel size container. I did not see a need for the mini comb piece that goes with these as I simply use a similar round comb from dollar store a cut a couple teeth on it. It was not quite necessary. When using the fibers be careful how you shake out! Do not dump over! Tilt slightly and shake slightly! I use a make up smudger for foundation to dab the fibers a bit to help blend. Also the hair spray isn’t necessary any will work. However too much will result in fake wet look. You should not use this if you are swimming it will come out an be a waste of product. For my beard I don’t need this product but I’ll assume you’ll need the applicator for applying it due to angles. ... show more

This should be listed as a trial size. While I agree I don't need too much of this product per use, this still seems incredibly small. Especially considering the cost.

After my hair was colored, I needed to find a different color of Toppik-- but wasn't sure which one. I bought 2 different colors, in the TINY size to use as samples. Happy that I bought the smallest bottle to give this a try b/c it works GREAT but I will only need a little bit every so often, not every day. With my silver white hair, sometimes when I pull it back w/clips, part of my pinkish scalp shows thru & it makes my hair look more sparse. What's great about this product is that if my hairstyle is looking great & I'm going somewhere a bit more special, I can just tap a bit of this product on that particular area (no applicator needed) & voila, I'm the only one who knows & I can step out the door in confidence. I purchased the medium brown, in the smallest size so I could try it out. The bottle is very tiny, but I have to admit that I am very surprised by how many uses I have gotten out of it so far! Although, you can not see through the bottle so it is impossible to say how many uses I have left in it too, as the product itself is pretty much weightless. I have to say that I kind of have a love/hate relationship with this product. I am torn between giving this product a 2 or 3 star rating. In the end, I went with a 3. This is because I feel that perhaps this product would work better for someone who has hair that is not quite as thin as mine is. The medium brown that I ordered is much darker than I had expected. I personally feel that the medium brown is much more of a dark brown. So, I will say that this product does indeed help make your hair appear thicker. I feel that it helps to give my very thin and very fine hair a bit of lift/volume at the root. I appreciate this about this product. I am able to hide the spots where my hair is super thin and pretty much balding. From a distance I love the way this product helps my hair!! With that being said, I can not bring myself to actually love this product as much as I want to. I have tried so many different ways of applying it, and I still haven't found a way of doing it that it is less noticeable closer up. I am very self conscious that people will notice it, as it does end up blotchy and in small chunks. I am unable to apply this near my hair part, as it is extremely obvious that it is not natural. The best way to apply that I have found, is to make several parts in my hair an inch or two from where I leave my hair parted and sprinkle lightly along those. But any closer than a half inch or so from where my hair will stay, and it's a disaster. Big dark brown blotches and white scalp, ugh it's a ugly mess. There is no smell to the product, and I can't say that I have experienced any irritation or discomfort from it. This surprised me a lot, as I have very sensitive skin and my scalp has been extremely sensitive since I tried using Monat products to help with my hairloss. I also do not feel like this product has or will contribute to further hair loss. I also have been pleasantly surprised that I have not had any transfer issues with this product. There is no issues with going to bed or laying down or putting a hood of a jacket up over my head. No color transfer at all. I do not think I will reorder this product. I may try another brand and see if it is any better in being less clumpy or obvious in the sunlight or closer up. Or, I may just go back to order more of the Batiste Dry Shampoo spray for dark hair, as I felt like that product was so much less obvious and I could spray it right on my scalp and nobody would really notice it. Plus it smelled nice lol. Like I said, I want to love it.... but I just can't. Being a female with hair loss is very very difficult. ... show more

First off I got the smaller size cause clearly I didn’t know if I was going to like this. The small size is probably as big as your thumb- quite tiny but it’s perfect for traveling. I will definitely buy the bigger bottle and pour the product into the smaller one to keep handy. So I sweated, I was in the sun, I washed my face- brushed my hair many many times, wetted it down a bit and it stayed put! It really blends in seamlessly and the pigment gives a fuller effect instantly. I have beautiful healthy hair and though I’m starting to age I’ve noticed my hair is thinning somewhat especially around my hair line and it really has made me self conscious putting my hair back. I’m not sure how I decided or searched for this but it really gives a fuller effect to your hair. I put it around my patches and on my hair line and it look 5xs fuller then before. I put my hair back and I use to spears 15 mins try to style my baby hairs just right to make it look fuller. This is like instant hair in a bottle. I’m so pleased with the results I would probably say it lasts like 1-2 days but I didn’t experience any itchy or weird irritation. No weird hair texture issues. I got the dark brown shade, and it was a perfect hair match. I think I’m going to buy the medium and dark brown and mix it up and explore! ... show more
