Well, very strong if your Anchoring to something solid. My bathroom wall is an outside wall so it's concrete. So I used long enough tapcons to anchor.

This is a very nice design with non-slip grip area on the upper bar and nice wall plate thickness. We are installing this in my mother's bathroom to assist with her mobility. The pivoting design is excellent to keep out of the way when not needed.

The rail is sturdy, the only possible issue is the spacing of the screws in the mounting plate. They are not going to line up with a single 2 x 4 behind the wall. If you are using around a tub or toilet, be sure you have a firm mounting point behind the wall or are able to mount a large enough board on the face of the wall to attach the grab bar. The ability to fold the bar is great, you can get into a tub or sit down on the toilet with the bar down but raise it when its not needed and not block access. ... show more

My guest bathroom now has a pedestal sink. When I installed it, I didn't realize that by removing the old cabinet I was taking away a support mechanism for those with challenges to sitting and standing. Because a shower is located on the other side, there was no good solution for adding a support device until I saw this. It's a perfect solution. I was fortunate that there's a stud in the wall where I wanted to mount this support. Mounting it to a solid support is an absolute must. Mounting the handrail was fairly straightforward and requires 5 heavy screws. Three of mine are in solid wood behind the drywall, so I feel secure that the bar won't be detached from the wall. When not in use, the grab bar tilts up against the wall and is completely out of the way. It's easy to pull it down into a support position and to lift it back when you're done. The bar features a knurled area on the upper stainless-steel bar that improves grip. There's an integrated toilet paper holder, which is actually another good idea. As one who has significant issues with my knees, I'm happy that I found and installed this, and it makes the restroom much easier for my use and helps for any guests I might have. I am now permanently disabled and needed to find a bar that wasn't too big but could work for the height and length I need. It's sturdy and has the toilet paper roll holder, which is something else we didn't have. The one bar supports my weight. I did have to get an extra piece of wood attached to the wall because I did not have studs where I needed the bar, but it was worth it. I feel safe using this bar and am very happy. ... show more
