I am loving this furnace! This is my second TOAUTO furnace, and this is much better than my first! (my first was pretty amazing and still is a great furnace.) It gets up to temp reasonably quickly, has some pretty decent instructions (do read them before using!) and comes with the bare minimum you may need to get started. For the price, this is a great value! I have not tested it's limits yet, but it should be sufficient for melting metals such as led, aluminum, and copper. Also many more like Gold and silver. I think this is geared mostly to jewelry makers, with Gold and silver, but I don't do that. I work mostly with aluminum and copper and plan to expand my repertoire with more non-precious metals later and why I got this upgraded furnace. So far this is working wonderfully! My experience with the brand lead me to think it will continue to work for many, many years. My perception is that this heats faster than my old furnace. I have yet to do a side-by-side as I need to research the power requirements and if my circuits can handle 2 at the same time. These do draw some power. (just trying to be safe) Some notes on what is included: While this has what you need to get started, as you progress, you may want to invest into better tools, molds, and protective gear such as aprons and gloves. What is supplied is great, but there are better ones out there. The manual is wonderful, even with tips on how to perform maintenance on your furnace if it should stop working! There is one omission would like to see them add: More detail on the temperature selector: what each button does (but you can probably figure it out easily enough) and what units it displays in. ("C" centigrade best I can tell. ) and if you can change the units. (as far as I know you cannot…) I do recommend this furnace. This is a dangerous tool, so be careful, research, and when using take precautions. It is to me less scary than a propane furnace (which I also have). BONUS: A little bit from my experience over the years. If you melt found metals, such as aluminum cans and use copper pipes, there will be impurities! This will show up as noxious fumes ( I suggest to do this outside with protection!) and slag: the stuff that is not the metal the usually float to the top, but not always. In the case with aluminum cans, I find it is about half of the results is slag (and boy it can stink up the area!) so be prepared for that. I used mostly aluminum cans for my photos (there were some pure aluminum added in there too) I kept feeding in cut up bits of cans and as things started melting I used a sturdy iron rod to skim off the slag. When about half the crucible was filled with molten aluminum I stopped. Then poured the aluminum into some molds I had (they did not come with the furnace). What you see in the bucket of water shot was all the slag I skimmed off. The molds that came with the furnace are great for things like Gold and silver. Aluminum has too much surface tension for a smaller mold like what is supplied so I did not include them in this. ... show more

I've been wanting to melt some metal for years now but was never really ready to do so. I saw this and talked it over with a co-worker who uses a 2kg for melting gold out of old circuit boards that were recycled. I merely wanted to do some aluminum cans to make some "bricks" for my CNC machine. He may end up purchasing one of these for himself after I showed this to him upon arrival. This is "user friendly" compared to others that require assembly. I did take the bottom off to verify safety concerns I had for myself. I have turned the machine on to the recommended 500C to burn off impurities inside, then allowed it to cool down. I have to place this item out in my garage where it will have enough power from my circuit break panel on a dedicated line. The unit is easy to operate and makes quit use of melting crushed cans down. Old school ways with other devices (smaller wattage) were to cut the cans up for easier melting. Not this device! I simply crushed them so they would fit into the larger crucible, and they started melted nearly right away. I am very pleased with this item and glad that I actually waited all these years to have my wait worthwhile for this easy-to-use device! The ONLY issue I had with this package was that fact that the fork/pliers were rusted and are barely able to be used. I'll spray them down with some oil to let them soak, then burn off any excess so they don't flare up while in use. Speaking of package - the shipping box is TOP NOTCH!!!! ... show more

I got this for my wife as an anniversary gift as she would never buy something of this caliber and build quality for her jewelry hobby. Needless to say, she was very surprised and extremely happy once she opened the gift and started smelting down metals to use in her jewelry making. She was impressed with how easy it was to use and she was a little timid at first but it didn’t take long for her to start using it on a regular basis and it has worked out great for her! The graphite mold is perfect for her to recycle old jewelry that she has purchased at garage sales so that she can reform them into higher quality jewelry and accessories. The smelter has no problem melting down scrap aluminum, copper, silver and even gold! It takes about 30 minutes for her to melt most metals and she's able to work on her jewelry while they are melting down and then they are ready to pour into molds around what she has crafted. She even made the comment last night that this was best anniversary gift she has ever received, so a big thanks to TOAUTO for making me look good, 5 Stars! ... show more

It doesn't work. It's very compact, beautiful out of the box. Comes with all tools, gloves. Easy set up, just plug in to power. Instructions are quite unclear, but definitely read them. I even looked up videos on how to use - there are quite a few. Even after reading instructions (which is highly recommended) and watching the videos, the furnace will not heat past 47 degrees C. I've tried a few times, and it doesn't change. I do not recommend. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I got this little furnace because I have been interested in the smelting hobby, but felt that it was a rather large investment for something I wasn't 100% sure about. I got this to play with melting and molding aluminum and it has been a blast so far. The kit comes with tongs and gloves, but does not include safety glasses or a mask. I would recommend purchasing those extra items. If you have large hands, you may also want to purchase your own gloves too. The ones included are meant for pretty small hands. The tongs worked well, but I did find it interesting that some rust had started to form on the tongs while still in the packaging. Did not hurt performance, but was interesting. So far, I am having a lot of fun with this. ... show more
