This is a heavy, solid-feeling tire iron. Its long length gives a lot of leverage for removing the tire off the rim. The photos in the listing may lead one to believe that this tool can break beads. It will not break beads, at least not by itself. It would be easiest to first use a bead breaker and then use this tire iron to remove the tire. The tire iron has a painted finish and makes this suitable for use on steel rims. It will likely leave scratches on alloy or anodized rims. If you have painted rims of any type, it's possible that the finish could be marred. If you care about protecting the finish of your rims, I would recommend using rim guards. Tire irons with a polished or chromed finish would reduce the risk of damaging the finish of the rim. It appears that this tire iron is being marketed for use with larger trucks and buses. It would be fine for use in those applications. ... show more

I used these for my Ford 601 tractor tires, and my M35A2 tires. The knob fulcrum points make me look almost competent at the job. The barn cats were still not impressed. These also cost less than paying for just 1 tire dismount/remount for my tractor. So, they have saved me around $200 so far.
