Description

Size:0.040" Engineered to exact specifications, you can count on these long- lasting electrodes to perform during your most difficult welding application, time and time again. With reliable arc-striking and a low burn-off rate, these electrodes maintain the highest quality of arc while adhering to ANSI and AWS standards. Lanthanated electrodes are popular due to the relative ease of striking an arc and lower amperage required. 2% Lantanated Blue electrodes perform exceptionally well in both AC & DC applications and perfect for welding aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, nickel alloys, copper alloys, titanium alloys, low-alloyed steels, and stainless steels.

Size: 1/16"
I bought the 2% lanthanated on the recommendation of Jody on Youtube where he runs a broad range of video instruction, MIG, TIG, Etc. I found him to be the best for my purpose. He actually welds professionally, so he can demonstrate techniques not found in books or known by people just starting out, but make videos to satisfy themselves. Jody goes by "WeldingTipsAndTricks." Now, the tungsten electrodes; very well made, and packaged in an easy open container. A note on thoriated electrodes. I take the radioactive warning on thoriated rods quite seriously, and avoid using them altogether. ... show more

  • Ordered 9pm on 28th, on my doorstep 11am on the 30th! Oh, and a GREAT product!
Size: 3/32"
I’m a self taught TIG welder (and have only about 45 hours of arc-on time according to my welder to date) but have welded lots of 6xxx, 3xxx and die-cast alloy, a fair bit of 304SS along with plain and chromoly steel. I started out with - and still have - a rather large collection of different tungstens, but these 2% lanth from Midwest are my “go to” tungsten now as it welds everything very well. If you’ve not made the switch, buy a pack of 3/32 and1/16 and prepare to be impressed with the versatility of TIGing everything with just one electrode! I’ve never had a bad tungsten from Midwest, and they follow up on every receipt of order, every time the order has shipped, notification the order has been delivered, and are easy to contact. I’m a repeat customer and will keep purchasing from Midwest. ... show more

  • Best high frequency arc starts in aluminum period.
Size: 1/16"
Night and day difference. Harbor Freight Pro Tig 200 came with Grey ceriated electrodes and unless the aluminum was immaculate and the electrode was freshly ground, arc starts were hit or miss. Green pure tungsten wouldn't start at all. Sometimes with Grey I'd be pumping the pedal 10 times or more. These electrodes start on the first try every time and the welds are bright and clean. Wow..I'm literally using these forever. ... show more

  • Good stable arc
Size: 3/32"
These are very uniform and fit well in collets and gas lenses. I can use the Midwest 3/32 2% Lanthanated electrodes for a majority of work, even the small or thin stuff if I'm too lazy to change diameters. These electrodes are good over a wide range, as high as 100 amps DCEN, At 70 or 80 amps they last a long time between regrinding. Can't say anything bad about the electrodes or Midwest. ... show more

  • Exactly what I need,perfect.
Size: 1/16"
These electrodes work just as they are supposed to. I don't have an auto point grinder; I do mine all by hand and they come out perfect every time. I have Agent Orange issues from Viet Nam so the partial loss of feeling combined with my natural shakiness are not always conducive to long tungsten life. I needed more control than I have with my MIG welder when repairing multiple cracks and splits in a 24" hardened cutter off my disc. I will buy these again. ... show more

  • Wonderful made in the USA tungsten!
Size: 3/32"
This tungsten is a very high quality product, that seems to be a more homogeneous mix of lanthanides and tungsten. A lot of cheaper / made in China tungsten does not have a very homogeneous mix of lanthanides in the tungsten base. This causes a lot of weird arcs instability problems. When running these cheaper tungstens on an inverter machine they'll make all kinds of crazy little crowns and eventually the electrode gets so cratered out you can't use it. I've welded quite a bit of aluminum with these and have been extremely satisfied with their performance. I will not hesitate to buy them again. ... show more

  • Great welds on steel and aluminum
Size: 3/32"
Made the switch from thoriated....and I’m very pleased. Hold a point or ball well and maintain a clean/steady arc. They weld steel and aluminum very well. Easy to use, highly recommended. Great price too.

  • I have done a lot of research on what type of tungsten is best. From my research
Size: 3/32"
As a Sprint car chassis welder that placed 4th in the SkillsUSA national welding competition, I have done a lot of research on what type of tungsten is best. From my research, 2% lanthinated is the best all around tungsten next to E3 which is a blend of 1.5% lanthanum with a trace of a couple other rare earth elements. If you are wanting something that performs as good as 2% Thorium on DC and that is also great on AC, this is the stuff to buy. I gave out a couple electrodes to my co-workers to test over the last week and we can't find any marginal differences over E3. I think E3 might have slightly better heat resistance, but it's very hard to quantify and the 2% La tungsten here is much cheaper. ... show more
