Description

Keep your home under control with this Wireless Motion Sensor How to install Wireless Motion Sensor Slide the rear cover up to open the Wireless Motion Sensor. Then place two AAA 1.5V batteries inside the sensor. Clean and dry the installation surface. Remove the protective layer of double-sided tape and adhere sensor in your desired installation area. Optional: You also can use screws to install the Sensor (Screws are included in the box). Read more Create a Routine Using the Alexa app, you can create Routines which are triggered when motion is detected or motion is not detected for a period of time. To create a routine, go to the motion sensor’s detailed page in the Alexa app, and tap “create a routine”. Try creating Routines like play News Briefing when motion is detected in the morning or have Alexa play a custom greeting when you come home at night. If you have a Smart Plug or Smart Switch, use a Routine to automatically turn the light or appliances on when you walk into a room and turn it off if there’s been no motion for a while. More fun with Third Reality Products You can create a routine like this, "When you come back home and the motion sensor is detected, the switch and fan will turn on automatically. " That's so cool! You also can create other Routines, like if no motion detected, turn off the switch and fan. How does the Wireless Motion Sensor’s Pet Immunity function work? The Wireless Motion Sensor has a certain detection angle and distance, considering these factors and the height of your pet to install the sensor to an appropriate height. When the pet is out of the detection distance of the sensor, the sensor can’t detect the movement of the pet; when the pet is within the detection distance, but not within the detection angle, the sensor can’t detect the movement of the pet either. • Cannot connect to Zigbee hub in Echo 4 - must purchase 3R hub or smart speaker?
Style: Motion Sensor
There are no instructions for this device on the 3R website (instead, their older motion sensor for the Alexa Flex is featured). My Echo 4 with built in Zigbee hub does not recognize it. The Alexa app says to get the 3R app, and configure the device there first. The 3R app requires a Third Reality smart speaker or hub to configure the motion sensor. Waste of money and (considerable) time. ... show more

  • It works (update) it doesn't work
Style: Motion Sensor
Simple install, no issues adding to Hubitat. Hopefully I'll get the life out of it expected but for this price can't go wrong. Up date (91 days into 90 day warranty) I've been using this in my mailbox to alert when mail is delivered. Connection was fine but false alarms constantly. Repositioned, taped over sensor. Followed all manufacturer guides. Finally locked in a drawer for 2 days. it triggered over 40 times in a locked drawer. Rating changed to 1 unless 3rd reality decides to read this and reach out to replace. Lets hope. I am a "power user" for home automation and can tell when it's a hardware problem... ... show more

  • Nice small sensor
Style: Motion Sensor
This sensor does work with the Alexa App and my Echo Show 10.1”, 2nd generation, 2018 (which has Zigbee). The Alexa App kept prompting me to download the Thirdreality App and to enable the Thirdreality Skill, which requires Amazon account linking. I didn’t want to download either of those. To get around this, I finally asked Alexa to discover devices, and she did. That then allowed me to add the sensor to an Alexa routine. There is nothing in the product description indicating one would have to enable an account linking Skill. So, be forewarned. I have a couple of Thirdreality lights that attach to the Echo Flex and they don’t require any additional Skill. I like everything to be very simple and run solely with the Alexa App and my Echo Show. I have other third-party devices that run flawlessly in this manner. However, to get full functionality from this device (i.e., battery life, Alexa notifications), the Thirdreality App and Skill seem to be necessary. With respect to the sensor, it works. However, I notice a lag between triggering events. In other words, if someone walks by and triggers it, the Alexa routine begins almost immediately. However, if someone walks by a few seconds later, it doesn’t trigger. There is some sort of downtime, like recovery time. In reading the Q&A’s, one answer indicated there’s a 30-second reset time, so I guess that’s the device’s recovery time before it can be triggered again. Tip: I set up a routine to get Alexa to announce when somebody passes by it on their way to my front door. In the Alexa App, the Action you need to add is under Messaging > Send Announcement. You can type in your message to be announced. By doing this, you can then select to have it announce on all your devices instead of just one. Note: The sensor isn’t watertight or weatherproof. Mine is in a fully-sheltered entryway. ... show more

  • Triggering lag when using Echo Plus as the hub
Style: Motion Sensor
It was easy to pair, setup and create routines. It does work, but there is significant lag when turning on my lights. It take 15-20 seconds before it triggers, which defeats the purpose. It does work ok when turning off lights when there is no motion. Tried resetting a few times but it didn't help. Probably going to return. ... show more

  • Important steps when using Echo's built in Zigbee Hub
Style: Motion Sensor
I read the instructions, make sure you have 20/20 vision or wear glasses, I installed the skill re-started the app. I initiated pairing on the sensor, allowed Alexa to find it and BAM! it picked it up, triggered the sensor and got a detection recorded, tried it again and BAM! it worked. Stuck it out in the garage approx. 30 feet from the hub tested again and BAM! it worked like a charm. Happy customer. ... show more

  • The Zigbee Motion Sensor works with Alexa
Style: Motion Sensor
I look for a motion sensor for home security DIY with with Amazon Echo device. I bought this one. It is easy to setup. Here is how I set up with Alexa: 1. Use Third Reality Zigbee Hub to pare this motion sensor (see manual in details) 2. Use Alexa App to add devices. Find devices icon in bottom of Alexa App (home menu). Then click top right "+". and pop up menu show "Add Device", choose "Motion Sensor", then "Thirdreality". Follow the instructions to locate all the devices connect to Third Reality Zigbee HUB. In my case, I was asked to add motion sensor into an existing group - front door. 3. Go back to devices menu (bottom of Alexa App after home). Choose the group where show my motion sensor there. Click "CREATE A ROUTINE" to enter into ROUTINES menu. Click top right "+" into NEW ROUTINE menu, enter routine name by click "+" - my case - motion sensor. Next enter "When this happens" by "+", choose "Smart Home" -> motion sensor -> detected. Click Save on top right. Next enter "Add action" by click "+", choose "Messaging" -> Notification. Save. 4. After those, when motion sensor detect movement, you will receive Alexa notification. Good product works with Alexa. ... show more

  • On the cheap side
Style: Motion Sensor
This for sure seems more inconsistent compared to the old smart things sensors that you would use with a smart things ecosystem. The lights that are working alongside this sensor are not always functioning correctly. Sometimes the sensor will not trigger the lights. Sometimes only one bowl will stay on dimmer than the others if you have a set of three that is controlling. That part is probably not fair to fully say that it's the sensor's issue, but the sensor does have issue sometimes picking up motion in a very wide open space where it's positioned. ... show more

  • Works great with Amazon Echo/Alexa
Style: Motion Sensor
I also own several Third Reality switches (Both second and third gen) so when I saw a sale on the motion sensors on Amazon, I quickly ordered one. At first I connected it thru the Third Reality Hub that controls my switches, but the app has limited functionality for controlling lights based on motion. Also Alexa was hit or miss as to whether events would run. I removed the sensor from the Third Reality hub and added it instead to the built in hub in my 4th Gen Echo. It has worked flawlessly ever since! My only complaint is that I didn't order several more while they were on sale. I have several more places I would like to use one. ... show more
