  • Cool, Quiet, and Efficient: Delivers Top-Notch Performance
My computer was having trouble booting so replaced my CPU cooling solution with the Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance. This air cooler is a game-changer, providing exceptional cooling efficiency while maintaining a whisper-quiet operation. The first thing that caught my eye was the premium build quality. The Assassin X120 Refined SE exudes durability, with its sleek aluminum fins and nickel-plated copper base. The dual tower design, coupled with seven high-quality heat pipes, ensures efficient heat dissipation, making it an ideal choice for both gaming and demanding computational tasks. Installation was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to the user-friendly mounting system and clear instructions provided by Thermalright. The cooler supports a wide range of Intel and AMD sockets, offering compatibility with various CPU configurations. When it comes to performance, the Assassin X120 Refined SE truly stands out. The dual 120mm fans are not only efficient in cooling, but they also operate almost silently. Even during intense gaming sessions or CPU-intensive tasks, the cooler maintains low noise levels, contributing to a more comfortable and enjoyable computing experience. Thermalright's craftsmanship is evident in the details. The polished nickel-plated finish not only adds a touch of elegance to my system, but it also serves a functional purpose by enhancing thermal conductivity. The specialized mirror-finished base ensures optimal contact with the CPU, resulting in efficient heat transfer. I've experienced a significant improvement in temperature management since installing the Assassin X120 Refined SE. It effectively keeps my CPU temperatures in check, even under heavy workloads and overclocking scenarios. This cooler provides the peace of mind that my processor is operating within a safe temperature range, contributing to its longevity and performance consistency. In addition to its impressive cooling capabilities, the Assassin X120 Refined SE's low-profile design doesn't interfere with RAM modules or PCIe slots, allowing for easy integration into various PC builds. In conclusion, the Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE CPU Air Cooler is a top-tier cooling solution that combines exceptional performance, quiet operation, and premium build quality. If you're in the market for an air cooler that can handle the heat while maintaining a low profile and quiet demeanor, look no further. The Assassin X120 Refined SE has exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to fellow PC enthusiasts. ... show more

  • Fantastic cooler for the money
I've installed many of these Thermalright X120 heatsinks in various computer builds and the quality and cooling performance at this price point is simply unbeatable. In fact these are basically clones of a more famous brand of cooler who decided to increase their prices to $50+ years back, the performance is just as good, the fans are quiet and effective, and they cost about 1/2 to 1/3 of the price. They mounting system used on these is actually more sturdy and simple to install than some higher priced coolers. They also include a good quality thermal paste that so far works about as well as the fancy $$$ pastes. ... show more

  • Will buy again
This cooler has a mounting system that is super stable and doesn't move. The fan clips are easy to attach unlike most other clips I've used. It's thermal efficiency is fantastic though, which made it well worth the purchase. Used on 65 watt and 95 watt processors that used to reach 90-100° Celsius. That's like boiling water hot. Now they barely flake past 60 Celsius. It's also got a nice look to it to top it all off. Five stars! ... show more

  • Great air cooler for a budget price
I build PCs for customers as a side job. I have used this air cooler probably a dozen times, on both LGA 1700 and AM4 sockets, and it has never failed to perform well. CPU temperatures stay nicely within the safe range, even under maximum loads using the Cinebench tool. I recommend this cooler for low- to mid-range CPUs. However, if you are planning to use a high-end CPU (such as an i9-13900K) that generates a lot of heat, then this cooler probably won't be sufficient. ... show more

  • Replaced stock cooler on my new R5 5600. Huge temp drops. Edit: Be careful with the thermal paste.
I almost don't believe this. I recently upgraded my PC from an old R5 1600 to a 5600. The old Wraith Spire cooler on my 1600 was always sufficient for that CPU. The new Stealth cooler that comes with the 5600 is unfortunately not adequate at all. Playing games the 5600 would easily spike up to 90-94C at only 40% utilization (then throttle). My idle temps were around 45-50C. After installing the Assassin X120, I now idle as low as 32C. I just booted up a game of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (which was consistently running my 5600 up to 90-94C with the Stealth cooler) and I kid you not, the temp stayed at a consistent 55C. I kept looking over in disbelief, expecting to at least go up to 70C, and it never did. I am amazed. It's also much quieter. (I should probably also note that I also replaced my rear exhaust fan, which was just the stock fan that came with the case, with an Arctic BioniX fan at the same time as I installed this CPU cooler. This is likely doing a much better job at pulling out the heat from the CPU cooler than the stock fan was). The installation wasn't too bad at all either. The only part I had a little difficulty was, getting the heat sink aligned to the screws on the brackets, but everything else was pretty easy. I'm very happy with this CPU cooler. Edit: After playing some more rounds of Star Wars Battlefront 2, the temp did top out at a whopping (sarc) 65C. Still almost a 30C drop from the Wraith Stealth cooler. I am just in awe of this CPU cooler still. I've played several other games as well and 65C is the highest temp I've seen period. This is insane. Edit2: So, not long after installing this I started to get BSODs, which eventually turned into an infinite boot loop, rendering my computer temporarily unusable. I didn't think a new cooler would cause this issue (especially because my temps were great) so I checked everything else first: swapped out GPU, RAM, bought a new PSU, RMA'd the CPU (took >2 weeks). I finally figured out the thermal paste had gone down the side and gotten on the CPU pins. It was only a little bit, so not sure why it was so problematic, unless Thermalright's claims about their paste being electrically non-conductive are not true. In any case, once I cleaned it up (used alcohol and a toothbrush) and let it dry (this is important, didn't do this at first) and then reapplied some third party thermal paste (just bought the $5 arctic stuff) making sure to not put too much, it started working perfectly again. So be careful with the thermal paste. Maybe don't use it all to avoid edge spillover. This was my first time applying thermal paste (previously had just used stock coolers with pre-applied paste) and I didn't know how much was too much. I just assumed the amount they give you with the cooler was the right amount. ... show more
