First of all, I am a beginner. I've watched youtube videos and at least new a little about crocheting but didn't want to make scarfs and blankets so when I saw this advertised for beginners with tutorial videos that walk you through it I was intrigued, even though it seemed a bit pricey, I decided to treat myself. I was initially pleased with the videos, counting stitches, writing them down and so happy when i had the correct numbers. The stitch marker is a pain (gotta be a better design). Then things started to get more difficult and frustrating and poor quality in the videos after working on the snout, nose and mouth. Some things were just not very clear and how to attach things. The video footage was often at the bottom of the screen and being cutoff, or some of the instructions for the pattern was covering up the footage, or they were going way too fast. I managed to understand the magic loop more than how to do the slip stitch and chain for the mane! Also, felt like I was left hanging not knowing what to do with the end strings, especially after joining the mane. So I got to the point of throwing caution to the wind (or saying F it) and just did it my way in what made sense and looked good to me. And I finished it, hooray! So proud of myself. I like the sense of accomplishment. Was it worth it, eh? Does seem overpriced giving the poor quality of the videos and the pattern instructions. I can't really say I recommend it, but if you are a beginner and want to try it, I recommend sticking with it, don't give up, and push through. If I can do it, you can too. As we say in running, just keep moving it's not a sprint. I'm going to try a lesser priced kit and see how it goes. Will report back. Best wishes if you give it a go. UPDATE: I tried a couple of other less expensive boxed kits and was very disappointed. One kit came with access to videos, that were difficult to understand. I've increased my rating of this kit (Sebastian). I truly love it and the fact that I made it. Although some of the videos are not 100% understandable, just take a little leap to get to the other side. On that note, I do recommend it if you really like the animal character on the package. Although it was a bit pricey, it was worth it. I have learned some new skills, gained some confidence, transferred the knowledge to other projects, and am well basically hooked! LOL. There are some great free videos on YouTube (such as OLLIE+HOLLY) if you really want to start out just learning basics. Best wishes on your crocheting endeavors. ... show more

The quality of this is great and it’s a fun gift to give. The instructions are short yet slow videos on how to do each step - often too slow. I would recommend this, though! It’s a great idea & fun for people of all ages.

I’ve been wanting to learn how to crochet and previously purchased a beginner kit at Hobby Lobby. The kit from Hobby Lobby had vague written instructions and no visual aids. I’m sure someone with crochet knowledge could have figured it out with no problem, but as someone trying to learn something new I was intimidated and felt my time as a crocheter was over before it began. I saw The Woobles ads on TikTok and assumed that their kits were like all the others and kept scrolling, but seeing The Woobles on Shark Tank completely sold me on the concept and before I could change my mind, I ordered a kit. This kit is awesome and includes everything needed to make the amigurumi plushie on the bag plus lots of extra yarn. The videos are really helpful and I actually felt like I was learning crochet terminology as well as proper technique. There were bumps in the road and at times I got frustrated but rewatching the videos and reading the written instructions and using the picture on the bag as a point of reference really helped me get the desired results. Is it perfect? No. Does it look good? Heck yeah! The feeling of accomplishment is amazing and learning something new as an adult is definitely a confidence booster. Thanks Woobles! These are so adorable. The instructional videos that come with every pack make it very easy to learn and have a great result. Wouldn’t get it for a child that doesn’t have great hand-eye coordination yet, as it might be frustrating. But if you think your kid is up for the challenge, then this is the place to start. Bought this for a 9 yo interested in crocheting stuffed toys. I watched the video several times so I could help get my kid started but couldn’t make much progress even though I know how to knit. The instructions are almost too detailed and repetitive for the first steps and then too general. I wish there was a booklet provided instead of having to scan a QR code and juggle the phone to scroll the videos to whichever sections I needed to rewatch with the yarn draped over my fingers. In short, this was frustrating for both me and my kid. Probably good for someone who already knows the basics of crocheting.
