I honestly know very little about the intricacies of different potting soils. I'm new to gardening and this particular type of mix was recommended for a certain kind of flower that I am trying to grow from seeds (too soon to tell if I've been successful). To me it doesn't look all that much different from other potting soils, a little more coarse and a definite smell (of "natural" fertilizer I suppose) but basically the same as the large bag of potting soil I bought from the garden supply section of my local big box store.     • Why does this smell so strange?
I just potted my baby indoor "chicks and hens". It smells like a fart's fart. Once I potted it, I don't smell it quite so much. We will see how my succulents do

Soil was delivered fine and no damage. Looks as pictured. It smells absolutely awful when you first open it and the soil is very moist. I repotted a couple small cacti and a small elephants bush in this. We’ll see how it goes. The most recent reviews have me worrying but let’s hope for the best. I’ll update this review in 2 weeks give a progress update. Update: Added a star. Elephant bush seems to be growing well in this. The succulent and cactus I think are still in shock and not growing, probably an issue with my repotting. ... show more

I recently purchased this soil and when I opened the bag..IT SMELLED!! I went ahead and repotted a few of my plants I hope it won’t kill my plants. I will update y’all.
