I have heard Jay speak for about 5 years at conferences regarding the hiring process. Over the years I have implemented his suggestions. But when Jay announced this book, I purchased to see if there was more to learn about the hiring process because there were 3 positions available in the office . Was there anything else I should be doing when reviewing 300 resumes; was I being to picky, critical, etc.? There were not many applicants for one positions advertised and found myself starting to get desperate. So lowering my standards and reaching out to a few candidates(had good looking resumes but had not sent a cover letter or followed the directions in the job posting), but kept getting burned. (Scheduled several phone interviews and then they would not call). After reading this book I realized how to ask different questions during the interview process and what the answers really meant. This was the step I had been missing. Putting all these steps/suggestions into play really has given our office SUPER-STARS. The Hiring MRI has helped avoid hiring disasters and given insight into understanding the hired SUPER-STAR staff, their weakness's and strengths.   • Do not hire anyone until you read this!
Hiring productive, positive, intelligent people is always a challenge. What may look good on paper and sound good in an interview may not be what you get when you hire someone. I have found that Jay Henderson is a resource to help me weed out that deception, beyond my gut feelings, to truly engage with people who will be a good fit to our law firm.
