  • A Classic Horror.
It's a real shame that this movies had terrible reviews when it first came out in the 80s, as I think people were grossed out and were acrimonious with the tone/mood of the film. But lest we forget, this is a horror film. In my opinion I think it's well done and the story is a lot smarter than what it appears. Disclaimer: I actually despise body horror, bloody and gore fests as they usually seem exploiting, try-hard-edgy, and exploiting. But the way Mr. Carpenter directs these horror scenes is so masterful that the nightmarish violence seem very appropriate and morbidly creative. Kurt Russell's character is not a super hero and is just an everyday blue color guy is very relatable and down to earth and the extras seem pretty real with their own quirks and flaws, which makes the whole situation all the more horrifying and quite disturbing. I would recommend all mature audience members to atheist watch it once as it is nearly on the same Sci-Fi/Horror spectrum as Riddley Scott's Alien. It's a master work that still stands on its own to this very day. ... show more

  • Incredible Version
My box set came slightly crushed, not nearly a bad as some of the reviews on here, so I kept it. But the 4K transfer is incredible. I popped in my blu ray version afterwards and it’s not even close. The snowy wilderness seasons are beautiful with the helicopter overhead. Noticed you see a lot more detail in the snow as the dog is running. But where the 4K really takes off is the night scenes, the darkness really makes the complex, the fires and explosions really pop. The scenes where the Thing pops really explode with color and detail and a slimy sheen. I did not notice any problems with the audio thought it had some real highlights with the helicopter and some noises behind you at tense moments. But it mostly adds atmosphere with the storm howling. One of my favorite movies for years, but the 4K really breathes new life into the film. ... show more

  • Killer box set
Great region free import. A ton of extra goodies with this box set... probably the 5th or 6th version I own now of the Thing. I'll buy every special edition that they come out with!!!

  • False description
Looks used, missing (5 x Art Cards 1x Matt Ferguson’s “The Thing” Poster 1x Art Booklet). box was crushed. It has the Blu-rays and the 4k but I'm afraid they may be damaged too. I payed over $70 for this. Very disappointed.

  • The Thing!
I am a collector of tangible media and “The Thing” collector as well. I have not been able to find this set anywhere in the US as it is a regional edition. Embedded in this edition is a 4k/blu-ray copy of the “The Thing” 1982, the original soundtrack and a bonus! You get the “The Thing” 2011 with it as well! I am very happy to add this to my collection! ... show more
