  • Large Size is MUCH Too Large for Average Goldens, Labradors, German Shepards, etc.
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Color: Pink
My male dog is between 75 and 80 pounds. I measured his neck just behind his ears as instructed, and it was a little over 19". I measured around the middle of his neck, and it was 22" with a generous fit so as not to be too tight. Some of the reviews I read said the size Medium was plenty big enough for a large dog and that the size Large size was far too large for most large dogs. I took those reviews to heart and ordered Size Medium, but what if it was wrong? I would have to wait an extra two days to get another collar, and I need one NOW, so I also ordered the size Large as well knowing I would return one or the other once I had the chance to try them on my dog. Both collars arrived today. I can confirm what the other reviewers have said about the size Large. It is far too long for your average large dog like a Golden, a Labrador, a German Shepard, etc. The Large is more the length of a petite woman's belt than a collar. Yes, it can be adjusted, but the amount of nylon collar you will double back on itself is significant, and it just makes the collar look lopsided and bulky to have that much collar doubled back on itself. So, now I am lumbered with returning the size Large. I should have stuck with my original assessment and only ordered the size Medium. I dislike boxing up items and taking them into town to return them, but I will do so and next time trust my first instinct on something like this. The problem is they have put enough length on the size Large to accommodate all three sizes: large, X-large, and XX-large dogs, and possibly small ponies. Seriously, the size Large would fit a pony. It would probably even fit most horses. There should be a size Large that is maybe two inches longer than the Medium collar, and then there should be an extra size for X-Large/XX-Large dogs that would perhaps be 3 inches longer than a size Large. I suppose they are not doing it that way in order to cut costs. Shame on you, Blazin! Speaking of cutting costs, there is a tiny, rubbery piece that seals off the point where you insert the USB charger. It is so tiny and so flimsy that I am sure it will not last more than a few months AT MOST if you use one of these collars a lot and thus have to charge it often. The more this little piece is handled, the weaker it will become, and very shortly, it will fall off. Pencil erasers are sturdier than this little piece. This is a VERY CHEAP detail that could have and should have been done better. Really disappointed in this. Double shame on you, Blazin! As for the collar material itself, it seems to be a sturdy nylon that would hold up very well over a long period of time. How well the LED's will work and hold up I cannot estimate as I have not used the collar yet. I did have to charge the collar for a while upon arrival. I think it took about 20 minutes to fully charge it, so I would imagine the battery had a fair bit of charge in it already upon shipping. Well, if the LED's are very bright outdoors, and if the charge lasts a long time, and if the collar holds up otherwise, I shall be happy enough. I will update this review soon. For now, though, my two complaints are the pitiful rubber piece they use to seal the USB port from dirt, water, etc., and the fact that the size Large is really more of an XX-Large instead of a true size Large. Meanwhilst, the size Medium fits my dog, but it does not have any extra length, so it cannot be adjusted upward by an inch or so if the dog gained a lot of weight or if I wanted to use it on a slightly larger dog. This is a bit of a drawback. Being able to adjust the size Medium upward by an inch or so would be nice. I hope this review is clear and makes sense. I had to use the words, Medium and Large a lot to describe what I have in front of me. I hope I have not confused anyone. If you have an average size Golden, Labrador, etc., of between 65 and 80 lbs., the size Medium is your best bet. Measure your dog's neck just behind and his ears. If it is 19 inches or a tad more, again, the size Medium should work for you. If your dog's neck is really so big that you need a size Large, be prepared to have to adjust and loop back the collar on itself. It will look overly bulky and lopsided. Just know this in advance. Right now, based on my two main criticisms, I am awarding three stars across the board. If the collar performs really, really well over the coming weeks and months and does not fail, etc., I may upgrade the stars awarded to four. I do not think I could award five stars in any case for the reasons I outlined. If the maker replaces that flimsy rubber piece, and if they made a size Large. and a larger Size XL-XXL, that would be a huge and good step in the right direction for properly fitting a range of dog sizes. As it is right now, I think three stars is fair, and I may upgrade it to four stars once I have had enough time to assess performance. ETA: I have only used the collar a couple of nights so far, but it is indeed quite bright. All modes, i.e. steady, fast flashing, and slow flashing work well. At one point on the first night I used the collar, it seemed to turn itself off. I had to turn it on again. I suppose something my dog ran through could have pressed the button and turned it off. That is very worrisome. If you must be able to identify where your dog might be in the dark in a reasonably vast area, the light getting turned off somehow is a big problem. I will continue to use the collar nightly and update this review in a few weeks. ... show more

  • ABSOLUTELY THE BEST LIGHT-UP COLLAR!
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Color: Blue
I've bought and returned several light-up collars - they were all so dim they were basically useless. I found this collar, and it actually lives up to the advertising! It's extremely bright and visible from quite a distance. I no longer worry about my dog bring seen at night. He's black, so he's hard to see at night when we let him run around the yard without a leash. If you're looking for a collar you can see in the dark this is DEFINITELY the one to get. It's worth the extra money. My only issue is the sizing and size of the collar itself. My dog is right between sizes. He's a 22lb Chiweenie with a chubby neck that comes from the Dachshund side of his family. A small here doesn't fit him, so I had to go with a medium. That means a lot of collar has to be shortened, resulting in a double layer of collar around a substantial part of his neck. The collar is thick to begin with, and the medium is significantly wider than a small. I wish the mediums came in a narrower version for dogs with thick but short necks! Blazin, if you're reading this, I'd gladly pay extra for a smaller collar in a medium! It would be much more comfortable for small dogs… ... show more

  • Overall, these are excellent LED collars.
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Color: Green
Overall, these are excellent LED collars. They are very well made, reliable, and quite bright. I have tried 5 of these collars in various colors, trying to find the colors that are the easiest to see on a dark night from a far distance. The 3 I have settled on as the brightest and most visible are definitely the pink, the blue, and the green. Based on my personal experience, I have found these 2 colors NOT to be as visible in the dark: yellow and red. Just my take.... I've been using these collars about 27 nights a month for the past 16 months. There have been a couple minor problems, but they are minor. These collars definitely still earn a full 5 stars. They are worth every penny and I think are actually a really good value. Minor issue #1: Occasionally somehow the dogs can turn these off. I don't know how, but they do. (Or if the dogs aren't somehow pressing the switch to off, then maybe the lights are going off themselves?) This happens rarely -- maybe once every 4-5 months -- and is not a big problem. Minor issue #2: There is a well designed rubber nub that fits into the USB port to protect it from dust when the collar isn't being charged. The "hinge" side of this nub eventually fails from normal daily use, and the nub falls off. Not a big deal. I've found the USB port still doesn't get too dirty, despite almost nightly walks on dirt roads. Be advised these collars are LONGER than you would expect. My dogs are about 60 pounds, not little dogs. For my first purchase of these collars I bought size Large. They were extremely over-long, but the collars are easily adjustable and I made them work fine. After 14-15 months of use I noticed the collars were not holding a charge as long as they used to, so I bought a new round of them, this time size Medium. (For the first year or so the Large collars would hold a good bright charge for about 10 hours of use. Beyond a year of use, they were holding a good bright charge for only about half that time. Also, on the pink collar 1 LED had burned out -- but only 1 of many, and this was no big deal.) When I ordered the new round of size Medium a couple weeks ago, they were the perfect size (very slightly too long, but again easily adjusted to make them a bit smaller). Here's the theory I'm going to be testing: Since the Medium collars have fewer LEDs than the Large collars, I'm guessing the charge is going to last longer. (I'm guessing that since the battery will be supplying power to fewer LEDs, there should be a longer time between recharges.) I'm hoping my theory will pan out. These brand new Medium collars are very bright and holding a strong charge for 10+ hours since they are new. Since I often walk dogs off leash in isolated rural settings at night, it is imperative for me to be able to see my dogs if they wander away. And I CAN easily see them from quite far away - maybe 150 yards away. Likewise, when I walk the dogs on leash at night in town (often in the street since we have almost no traffic), I want cars to be able to see them. (The few nighttime drivers in my small town slow down and some of them tell me from their car window how much they like these collars. And people who are out walking or sitting on their porches have given me many favorable comments. These collars are REALLY visible from a long distance away and easily draw the attention of onlookers.) I have tried many different solutions for lights on my dogs' collars over the last 10 years. For a long time, I used various brands of clip-on LED lights. Not very bright. Overly large and heavy. And they quickly ate up little lithium disc batteries (which were hard to change). But they were the best solution I could find. When I discovered these LED collars, I tried them and found out they do a very good job. By the way, if you REALLY want to make sure everybody sees your dogs, select the blinking lights setting. I do this in town. Nobody could possibly miss seeing your dogs when those lights are blinking. In the country, where there are no cars or people, I use the solid light setting, which works fine and is less distracting. After many years of trying many different products, I feel like I have found a really good solution for making my dogs highly visible at night, even from far distances. If you're on the fence about these collars, my personal opinion is that you'll be very happy with these collars for your dogs. ... show more

  • Perfect as billed
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Color: Black
Quality, super bright, added protection for my malamute, easy on, easy off. I don't use it as a leash collar because he is a malamute and loves to pull pull pull so chest collar is best for him but at the dog park, it is perfect for his night exerciser off collar. Things malamutes love and thrive in , night and cold. 10 acre park and I can see him clear as day when he is just running around having fun. I've seen other collars but thing one, yeah, super bright. ... show more
