  • Read for title, Stay for the Plot
What a great story and character development! I heard about this from a podcast me and my partner listen to. Honestly, I binged read this so fast that I would stay up fairly late to just to know what was happening. 10/10 would read again. Can't wait to see what's next

  • An exploration on the fine line between love and morality
What would you do to protect the people you love… from you? Would you become the enemy or the monster? How many ethical lines would you cross? I don’t have a great answer. I don’t think this series has the answer either but damn does it try to explore it. Every character, no matter how morally ambiguous, somehow draws both empathy and criticism. If you want a book that makes you scream and cry and scream some more this is a good one. ... show more

  • Great Read

  • Fantastic storytelling and artwork
I love the storytelling and the art of Nice House on the Lake. Maybe it's just me, but I had trouble remembering which characters were which and had to flip back multiple times. There is a character sheet near the back of the book, wish I had known about it earlier. But that's just being picky and didn't take away from the story at all. Also, in the hardcover version, there were several times I read the pages as a singular page before realizing the panels were full spread between 2 pages. Again, maybe just me and the binding being too tight so the full spreads were not obvious. Other than being picky about those small details, I love this book and will be rereading it a lot. ... show more

  • This is a great series
I am happy with my purchase. I didn't read the details and it was a third printing. Not a huge deal. It was in great condition, shipped quickly, and I will do business here again.

  • Great build-up and the leaves you totally hanging
I was excited for this limited series based on critics’ reviews. Great story and artwork. It builds, builds, and builds the tension and the….bam! It is over in what feels like a haf baked non-ending. I hope they come out with a part 2 as I would like to see a proper wrap-up for this story.

  • Not what you expect, not for most people
This review is in two parts one for the story and one for the art. The overall rating is based on the difference between these two. The story: 1 Star. The description of this book should be all of Walter's gay, lesbian, and transgender friends are invited to a lake house. At least then you would know what you are about to read. I am not a fan of gay fiction but if you tell me in advance so I know what I am getting I will give it a chance. A good example of this is Terry Moore's Strangers in Paradise. I knew that was a story of two gay women, so I could read and enjoy the story. In this book, the writer starts by introducing all the proper politically correct checkboxes. Fine, I read it and moved on, but then it became subtly preachy. The writer is clear he thinks everyone should live this alternate lifestyle and if you don't live it, love it, and accept it as normal something is wrong with you. Since I am a firm believer in total Free Speech, that is the writer's right and I will support that right. However, I don't have to read, listen to, or financially support his opinion, which is my right. The art 5 Stars Holly cow the art is amazing. I am a huge fan of comics that use various techniques and illustration styles to illustrate the story and this artist delivers. I do not know if Bueno uses digital, traditional, or a mixture of both but it looks so good. The covers reprinted on the interior and the interior pages are amazing. If they ever produce an Artist Edition for Alvaro Martinez Bueno I want it. He has a new huge fan. ... show more
