  • Grace and Mercy Amidst Suffering
Beatrice has lost so much and endured so much that her faith almost waivers. Isaac has honored and obeyed his earthly father, but at what cost? Cholera rages in the area, evil people try sabotaging Isaac's plans, yet Gid brings good through all of it. Excellent story and encouragement in the face of hardship. ... show more

  • Very Good Read
I have not read a book in this setting or time period in a long time, I forgot how much I love them! I almost read this in a day but it was 2:30am so I had to give in. I kept waiting for a good stopping point but the twists upon twists kept getting me and I just HAD to know how it was going to turn out! This is a split perspective story and different for me as I almost enjoyed Issacs perspective more than the female lead Beatrice's point of view. Her views of God were not quite right for most of the book and it really got to me. Beatrice's views are corrected near the end but it really hampered my ability to enjoy her story along the way. At the end of the book I liked Beatrice's character and story much better having seen the full picture, even empathizing with her at one point. I really liked the lead in to the authors next book in the series. I want to read it to see what happens to the next couple and what could possibly keep two such lovely people apart! I received a early copy of the book, my opinions as always are my own. ... show more

  • Never forgetting His Word
A sweet clean love story set in England in the year of 1849 between Beatrice Beckwith and Isaac Taylor that starts like life is just about splendid for the both of them even though they both have suffered from the lost of love ones in their lives. Isaac lost his sister and Beatrice has lost both parents and the only relative she has left is her Aunt Edith Price whom she lives with now. But Beatrice and Isaac are on the verge of declaring their love for each other and he asking her the big question, when their happy, peaceful lives begin to spiral out of control causing a whirlwind of issues. The two will find that the remembrance of God’s Word and their faith in Him along with a host of friends and family are the only things they will have to help them survive the events that will take place. A lovely story with several events that will tug at your emotions from deaths to deceits to pronouncements of love. A well written faith based romance with wonderfully developed characters and a storyline that is sweet, intriguing and motivating. A favorite quote, “Our darkest moments only serve to illuminate our brightest hope.” I received a free Advanced Readers’ Copy of this book but was given no monetary compensation. I read for the enjoyment and voluntarily review so that others may know what to expect and authors may be helped by critique and encouragement. ... show more

  • Christian standalone romance HEA
Beatrice and Isaac are in love. Just as he is getting ready to propose, his father makes demands that pulls Isaac away immediately. They are both confused and upset about the sudden departure. No sooner does Isaac leave, than a cholera outbreak hits the town. Beatrice's life is thrown for a loop. Their faith is tested as people conspire to prevent him from returning and communication is tampered with. Will their love prevail? When the truth comes out is it in time? Throughout the book, multiple mentions of their faith in God and His promises are what comforts them during the darkest of time. The true Lamp we all need. I received an ARC copy from the author. • Well worth reading!
This was an intense read with a lot of heartache and struggle, coupled with shocking family secrets. Through it all the lessons of God's goodness and the hope that He gives, shines through. The author handles the question of why God allows suffering, with sensitivity and insight. Isaac & Beatrice's journey was frought with difficulties and I truly disliked Jocelyn, but God has a way of making things work out. I really liked Irene...she was a true friend to Beatrice. Sadly, there did not appear to be any change for the better in Isaac's father, but the change in Bill was wonderful. I highly recommend this book. ... show more

A beautiful story! I immediately fell in love with the characters. The love of the Savior in our darkest hour woven through the story kept me clinging to hope that all would work out for Beatrice and Isaac.
