Description

ABOUT GRAIN FREE LIMITED INGREDIENT FISH RECIPE FOR DOGSA minimalist dog food designed for dogs with touchy tummies and sensitivities to multiple ingredients. Each box of Limited Ingredient Fish Recipe touts only six grain- free, nutritious ingredients—including Marine Stewardship Council Certified pollock – and a healthy dose of soluble fiber, good fat, and irresistible flavor. The Honest Kitchen Limited Ingredient Fish Recipe is a dehydrated dog food that is AAFCO complete and balanced for all life stages and breeds. It’s higher in protein while moderate in calories and includes pollock wild-caught off the coast of Alaska. The pollock is MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified and classed as a ‘Best Choice’ by Seafoodwatch. org. It is a limited ingredient dog food with only SIX ingredients – great for pups with any food allergies or who just need a simplified diet. THE HONEST DIFFERENCEMost pet food makers would never invite you inside their kitchens—because they’re not kitchens. They’re heavy processing plants. Our company started in our founder's kitchen in 2002, where she made meals for her family (both human and pets). Today, we still prepare food with the same love and uncompromising quality. Our food is made from ingredients you’d recognize in your own kitchen right alongside breakfast cereals and bakery mixes, so it satisfies the same rigorous safety, cleanliness and quality standards of people food. If we wouldn’t put it on our own dinner table, we won’t feed it to your pet. INGREDIENTS WITH INTEGRITYFrom eggs and salmon to pumpkin and parsley, wholesome foods you recognize and can pronounce are the only ingredients we use. And what we leave out is as important as what we put in. Our food is made in the USA and never contains the potentially unsafe and unhealthy ingredients found in feed-grade products. - No by-products or fillers- No additives or preservatives- No “4D” meats or feathers- No corn, wheat or soy- No ingredients from China- No GMO ingredientsOur suppliers must certify they meet the strictest standards for food safety and health as well as sustainability and fair-trade practices. Every year, each of our suppliers signs our “Human Food Grade ” and “Statement of Quality and Integrity. ” It’s not easy to become one of our supplies — and for good reason. BENEFITS OF DEHYDRATED DOG FOODPet food makers have figured out all kinds of ways to process their products. Most put your need for easy feeding way ahead of what’s best for your pets. We don’t. That’s why we started with dehydrated foods. You’ll tell by the true colors and fresh smells that they’re better for your pets. By gently dehydrating our ingredients, we’re able to retain more of the natural vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are often lost with traditional highly-processed pet food. Our ingredients are finely ground making them easier to digest. Because we remove all the water from our food, it’s super compact and nutrient dense. A 10lb box makes 40lbs of fresh food! WHY HUMAN GRADEFor veterinarians, food safety experts and savvy pet owners, there’s 100% human grade, and there’s everything else. It’s the best pet food you can buy, ensuring a level of quality and safety no feed-grade product can claim. We use only the highest quality ingredients from sources we trust (and no phony, feed grade ingredients ever). Our preparation methods and facilities meet safety standards 7x those of feed-grade ones. We do more than meet the highest standard for food safety and quality — we invented it. A few other pet food brands have since followed our lead, but most continue to use inferior, feed- grade ingredients. Once you learn the difference, you’ll never go back to feed grade again. HOW TO MAKEIt’s as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Just add water2. Wait 3 minutes while food rehydrates3. Serve with love! • Daph (our non-picky dog) refused to eat it!
Flavor Name: Chicken & Quinoa Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
We had purchased Honest Kitchen grain-free food, were running low and needed another box. The first box our 11 year old, totally non-picky, Heinz 57 mutt, Daphne, ate with total gusto. Upon making the first batch of this most recent Honest Kitchen purchase she ate a few bites and walked away. Encouraging her to eat more (holding the bowl, tapping on the bowl, stirring it around and giving it back to her... you know, all of the typical "voodoo" stuff) she smelled it and walked away. Hoping she would eat it we left the bowl on the floor for the rest of the evening and she would periodically walk over to it, sniff it and walk away. Being doting dog owners we were worried something was wrong with her (of course!) since she ate the morning's bowl from the prior batch of Human Kitchen without so much as pausing to take a breather. The next morning we figured she would dig into it because she would be much hungrier but were met with the same result. She ate a few bites and walked away. (Now we were really worried.) Daph's a thin 36lb dog (the vet has always referred to her as "super-model" body type, always rather thin) so it's not like she can go without food for a day or two (waiting for the claimed, "If she's hungry, she'll eat." to kick in). We had some spare cans of inexpensive wet dog food and did an experiment by giving her a bowl of that and she ate it immediately. That evening we tried an experiment, first giving her the Human Kitchen food, alone, and she ate none of it. We then mixed it into a 50/50 ratio of that and the inexpensive chunky wet canned food. She literally ate the chunks of the cheap wet food out of the mix and left the Human Kitchen food behind. Whatever is going on with this most recent batch of Human Kitchen food it's bad enough that she refuses to eat it. I tried getting a refund just now and upon hitting submit was met with a "Not eligible for refund" message. Based on Daph's total refusal to eat any more of this most recent box of Honest Kitchen, coupled with the "Not eligible for refund" we are out nearly $80 and will be looking for a different brand. • Beware! Stay away from this food.
Flavor Name: Fish & Coconut Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
My dog had a major allergic reaction but I didn't realize this food was the culprit until I purchased two boxes at over $100 dollars a box. Amazon wouldn't let me return the dog food so I am out of money on this AND my dog had to start seeing a dermatologist to get her skin allergic reaction under control. I contacted the Honest Kitchen and they also refused to refund the purchase price for the products even after pictures were supplied, dermatologist records and a letter from the dermatologist were sent to the company. The Honest Kitchen stated that since it was passed the 30 day return period, they would not be refunding any of the money. However, for dog allergies, it can take at least 6 weeks to find out a dog has an allergy to a food. I also did not know what was happening with my dog because her hair loss and itchiness had never happened before. I took her to the vet, that recommended we go to the dermatologist. I had to wait two months to even get into the dermatologist! This company gives the impression on Amazon through their response to my review that they will take care of their consumers; however, this company just had me running around in circles requesting a lot of information and documentation. After supplying all of the information and documentation that they requested, they stopped responding until I advised I was going to file a formal regulatory complaint. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, the company then stated they would not be refunding my money due to it being after the 30 day return period. ... show more

  • SICK DOG from Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Dog Food
Flavor Name: Chicken & Quinoa Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
Should be a No Star rating. Limited Ingredient Dog Food with Quinoa. Immediately after my dogs ingested this food, they broke out in large red blistered hives all over with intense itching. My dogs have eaten Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food for the last few years, but my smaller dog had skin issues, severe coughing and bloating. After the Quinoa $82.00 incident, I went to the pet store and picked up some Fresh Pet Vital chicken dog food in the bag since they did not carry the Honest Kitchen I normally used. After 3 days on the Fresh Pet Vital, both my dogs perked up and had more energy, after 4 days my little dog has no more bloating/inflammation and is cough free for the first time in years and his skin sores cleared up. I had spent thousands of dollars on vet testing, changing out heart and flea meds and dog treats and put him on distilled water. Vet had him on a cough syrup and hydrocodone. The whole time it was the Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food. I will never buy nor recommend this product ever again. My other dog had a hard growth under his skin on his face about the size of a golf ball - after changing to Freshpet Vital, the growth disappeared within less than a week. I could not believe it, nor could I believe it was the Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food causing all these issues this whole time. I hope this review helps someone who is having similar issues or has had a reaction to Honest Kitchen dehydrated food. 3 weeks now on Freshpet Vital, both 12yr old dogs are fantastic and have twice the energy now, and no more waking up in the middle of the night with my dog have severe coughing attacks - NO more hydrocodone. ... show more

  • There's a health hazard for my two dogs in this recipe. Other Honest Kitchen recipes are fine.
Flavor Name: Fish & Coconut Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've used Honest Kitchen for a couple of years now but never this particular Limited Ingredient one. There's something in it that made my two small dogs start hacking and gagging and itching forcing me to make a vet appointment. Vet immediately asked about the food and I said, "Yes I just switched but it's the same brand." The Honest Kitchen Human Grade Dehydrated Grain Free Dog Food is what I've used in the past couple of years and they did well. This limited ingredient one is not for my dogs!! Worst part is I can find absolute no way to contact the seller to request an exchange unless it's unopened and then I can do it via Amazon. Growl !!!!! ... show more
