  • My dog LOVES this food but I will not purchase again from here ...not sure if it’s 100% authentic.
Flavor Name: Chicken Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
First I must say this is an AWESOME dog food! My dog has been eating The Honest Kitchen Grain Free Chicken for a while now and it’s a very healthy, pure human grade food and he LOVES it! This food does wonders for his health and he was thriving on it. That was until I bought a box from this site. When I first opened the box I noticed that the food was very powdery and much lighter in color (see pic) than every other box I have bought elsewhere. I had never bought this food from Amazon before. I didn’t think too much about it at first, until as the days went on I started noticing that there were hardly any chunks of veggies or fruit (the usual stuff I see) it also did not have as strong of a chicken bouillon smell (that’s how I normally describe it). My dog ate it at a much slower pace than all previous boxes and didn’t seem as thrilled about it. He started burping after eating it, which he had never done before on this food. About a 10 days into this box, I started noticing he was shedding a lot. *NOTE..normally on this food my LAB hardly sheds!* so I just kept wondering about the total authenticity of this food. I can’t proof anything other than I really think it’s not totally the same food. Heres the thing...I ordered another box of this same food from The Honest Kitchens website and it was much darker and full of more fruits and veggies chunks. So I threw out the one I bought from here. As of today my dog is again very excited about the new box of food and there is no burping and a lot less hair to sweep up. That’s all the proof I need. I do whole heartedly recommend this Food, but I’m going to order it off the manufactures website where you get coupons and discounts and the food is 100 % their food. ... show more

  • No other food company compares...review from veterinary personnel
Flavor Name: Turkey Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
In working in the veterinary field I've seen how important it is that pets get adequate nutrition to prevent or treat various medical issues. I've seen the negative outcomes of poorer pet food quality. I have a mini schnauzer that before had digestive issues, straining when trying to defecate, bloating, really hard dark stools, licking at the feet. He just wasn't himself and I could see and sense that he was very uncomfortable. I switched him to THK turkey and took him off of dry kibble completely. One thing I like to tell people is that I work for a Veterinarian that specializes in food therapy. So I've learned a considerable amount of things regarding pet food. Please know that although a lot of pet food companies that sell dry kibble (even the expensive brands) claim that their pet food is healthy. Please also know that dry kibble although the ingredients that are supposed to be healthy are very over processed and by the time it gets to the pet the nutrients just aren't what they should be to provide the pet with the adequate nutrition that they should be getting. THK knows this and makes food that is minimally processed and that's why I like them. They put freeze dried 100% real ingredients into their recipes that are very good for pets and their tummies. This food completely changed my dog for the better. I buy 1 10lb box and it literally lasts me 2 and a half months. So I'm giving my dog optimum food while saving money as opposed to the food I was giving him before. I use a lot of THK products including the food, treats, goats milk, and bone broth. My dog loves them all and he's so much better now. Normal stools and no straining. The veterinarian I work for actually sells only THK products at our practice. I'm wanting to try their new dog shampoo bars! I hope this review helps others. ... show more

  • Not For Every Picky Eating Dog
Flavor Name: Beef Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
I have a pretty picky, spoiled rotten (by my wife who treats him like her 5th child) Boston Terrier, who acts like a food critic whenever you place a bowl of food down for him. It's as if I'm terrified of the reviews I'll be seeing in the local paper, written by my dog and his last dinner. He ate Kibbles & Bits ever since he was a pup, then suddenly, at 5 1/2 years, he decided he just wasn't going to eat it any more, and the search was on to end his hunger strike. I read all the great reviews from people who had similar problems getting their picky dogs to eat, and this food being the solution. They all stated it looked like green oatmeal (and didn't look very appetizing), but their dogs didn't mind the look, and ate it up. By the reviews, I decided to try it. My dog wouldn't go within 3 feet of his bowl the first few times I made it. I finally got him to at least go over and smell it (he always does this before eating anything, and after that he wouldn't go anywhere near his bowl. After a week I finally gave up. In their defense, I also ordered the new Amazon brand of dog food as a backup, I think its called Wag, and he wouldn't touch that either. But that one didn't have reviews that read like this dog food was the saving grace you've been searching for (written by customers who bought it, not by the seller, just to be clear). After going through this with many other dog foods, I finally decided to research what exactly my dog required for a good balanced healthy diet. Surprisingly, the required foods I would need to purchase to make my own dog food, healthier than anything I could by unless I was spending an extreme amount of money, was actually less than what this food would cost to serve him the same amount of days. Dogs don't require anything fancy, just healthy, and if it smells like what I'm eating, he'll do flips for it. I know make his food. A monthly supply of food for him (2 cups a day) costs me anywhere from $20 to $25/month. Much less than what a months worth of human grade food costs. The biggest bonus, he couldn't eat it fast enough from the very first serving. Still eats every meal without hesitation (although I did learn my dog won't eat his peas). This food may be great for some dogs, I definitely don't know enough about it to knock it, and the ingredients are healthy, that's a fact. But it didn't work like I thought for my dog. But in the end, I learned that I could make his food at home, just as healthy for less money (with no added preservatives), in less than 20 minutes a week cooking time. And, my dog finally quit complaining and now eats every meal. ... show more
