Description

Watch out — robots gone rogue! In this new adventure in the Kids First early engineering series, the Omega family takes a trip to a robot factory where the robots have gotten a little out of control. One by one, the wacky, motorized robots are fixed up and put back into working order, with the help of the Omegas — and you! As you follow along with the 32-page illustrated storybook manual, you’ll build working models of the eight different classic robots and experiment with them to see how each one uses the battery-powered motor, gears, and other mechanical parts to move its arms or legs in a different, funny, zany way. Through building and experimenting, kids get a unique look at how simple mechanical systems work. Large, cubic plastic building pieces make it easy for small hands to put the models together. Robot Factory provides an engaging way to teach simple engineering concepts to young children, allowing parents, teachers, and caregivers to lay the groundwork for strong STEM- related skills and comprehension at an early age. Model building and experiments develop fine motor skill, mechanical engineering skills, visual- spatial skills, and reasoning and concept development skills.

  • Great toy for the little one
Style: Robot Factory
The diagrams are not 100% intuitive at first, but if you stare at them long enough they’ll become second nature. So you do have to be a little patient at first. I spent a long time looking for something like this; I want the little one to get a knack for assembling and disassembling and improving dexterity creativity and problem solving. Infinitely better than having them watch TV. And it kills a lot of time. As the inflation runs rampant in our economy, I can’t help but think this is a decent price to pay for such a great product that got me valuable time with my kid. It’s fun for sure, quality isn’t bad at all. Naturally the kid lost like ten parts so I have to order the replacements :) ... show more

  • great alternative to legos - keeps kids busy for hours
Style: Robot Factory
bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He loves it. But he is also the kind of kid who can sit and concentrate on a meticulous task for hours. It takes patience to assemble and the directions are not always as clear as they could be. I recommend getting some zip lock bags to store the pieces in between use - there are a ton of tiny pieces that can easily be lost if you are not careful. ... show more

  • Great step up from the robot and auto kits
Style: Robot Safari
My son loves the products from this company (he is 5.5 years old). He was able to build with great ease and the pieces were appropriately sized for him. I would say that the direction booklet was different than the building kits of the past and he struggled to deal with the change. Instead of largish images they were smaller and showed many pieces being attached at the same time but there are lines to show where they attach. This is different from the other booklets and from LEGO booklets so it was difficult for him to get at first. However he built without my or his father’s help after the initial request. He really likes the robots and feels excited each time they work. Downside- needs batteries and the motor is louder than I thought it would be. It’s not crazy loud more like a race track loud level. ... show more

  • I would suggest 8+
Style: Robot Pet Shop
Super cute set and the company was great at replacing a piece when we lost one. The pieces are tougher to get together and the instruction a bit detailed for the age suggested in the package. I would suggest 8+ for individual play. Any younger would need help. Will definitely buy more.

  • Great stem toy
Style: Robot Factory
My 4yo is a robot fan. He really enjoy this toy. With some help he is able to build the different robots. The pieces were appropriately sized for his hands. He really feels excited each time he use this robot. At first sight I was skeptical about the product quality but its decent quality and woks really well. ... show more

  • Not worth it. Cheap plastic.
Style: Robot Factory
We built this with our 5 year old. Shortly after assembly of the first bot, it was dropped a very short distance onto carpet and a key piece snapped and broke. It’s made of cheap plastic. The gears are not smooth and it’s very loud. I would not recommend.

  • Educational and also fun
Style: Robot Safari
I got this as a gift for my young niece, and she was very excited about the idea that the robots will move once she builds them. She's a little younger than the suggested age, so she'll definitely need her parents' help putting this together, but it seems like a really fun activity for them to do.
