I’ve had lower back pain for two years after being rear ended at a red light. PT has been great but insurance eventually stops reimbursing, so I’m looking for something easy to help with the pain. This back brace (size small) just barely fits my size 2 frame. The snug fit is comforting but I did not expect it to fit as tightly as it did. As far as relieving pain, I think it did so with some effect, but it’s not a miracle cure and I was still able, even with the tight fit, able to move in such a way that caused some pain. But, it did provide some relief so there is that. Overall I think it’s ok, but I don’t know if if recommend it for bad pain. ... show more

I highly recommend this product if the are small to medium size. However, for a woman at any rate, if you are a size 16 or larger - you would need the next largest size, which was not offered. ... show more

    • Well made, comfortable lumbar support belt, but don't expect miracles

This lumbar support belt is mostly comfortable, well made, and fits and holds well. More on its effectiveness later in the review. My waist measurement, taken at navel height per their instruction, is right in the middle of the range for their "large" size, and it fit nicely, wight adequate adjustment to go smaller or larger if I was closer to an end of the range. The hook-and-loop closure pads (aka "Velcro") are finer and hold much more tightly than what you normally have around the house. When you put the belt on, you should be careful about a few things: -- Wear it at the proper height, not too low and not too high. -- Avoid any folds in clothing underneath of the inside flap of the belt itself, or they will be a source of irritation after you've worn it a while. -- Make sure the belt is centered horizontally, in particular, that its outermost vertical stays are centered on your back -- if one is too far to the side, it will dig into your side when bending a certain way. After taking these precautions, the belt was perfectly comfortable for me during the day, both sitting and walking. Now, how well does it work? The seller mentions a number of possible applications. In my case I have intermittent back pain due to a bulging lumbar disc (L1-L2) that impinges on the right L1 nerve root if I bend in that direction, causing sharp pain in my side. My back is also very stiff in the morning if I have slept on that side. Although I've been doing PT for this, it doesn't cure the bulge; it just attempts to strengthen various core muscles so I can avoid offending movements. I was hoping that this lumbar support belt would enhance the effects of increased muscle strength. For me, it didn't. A couple times while wearing it, I accidentally made a "forbidden" movement, and the pain was the same as always. The main thing the belt did was to remind me not to do that (like the punchline of the old joke where the doc tells the patient, "If it hurts, don't do that!"). I also tried wearing the belt while sleeping, hoping that it would help relieve my morning stiffness. It was pretty comfortable at night, with just a little pressure/irritation from the middle two vertical stays when sleeping on my back; comfortable enough that I would gladly sleep with it to get rid of the morning stiffness. But it didn't reduce it. So, "your mileage will vary" with this and similar products depending on your ailment. This belt is comfortable and inexpensive enough that it's worth a try, even if the only result is to help you form some new habits that are less stressful on your back. But I'm pretty sure that it's not going to give any back-pain sufferers superpowers to do all the lifting and movements that they could do before. My 5-star rating is based on the quality and comfort of the belt, not on it's being any kind of a miracle cure. ... show more
