Features

  • EASY TO USE Place Tertill in any garden that meets the requirements, press the button once to wake it up, and again to make it go. From the inventor of Roomba.
  • GARDEN REQUIREMENTS 4-inch (or higher) border, a foot between plants or rows, a relatively flat (slope of less than 7 degrees), and relatively smooth surface. Place Tertill in a weed-free garden to start. Each robot can maintain up to 200 sq. ft.
  • PLANTS vs WEEDS Tertill uses height to identify plants from weeds. Anything tall enough to touch its front sensors is considered a plant and Tertill will turn away. If it passes under the robot, Tertill cuts it. Included plant guards protect desired seedlings not tall enough to be detected by the robot.
  • STAYS in the GARDEN Tertill never goes on vacation or has something better to do. It is weatherproof and can stay in the garden from Spring through Fall. Solar-powered, it never needs to be charged!
  • GREAT GIFT Perfect for busy moms, dads, grandparents or anyone who doesn't have the time, ability or desire to weed the garden, but still wants to grow fresh healthy vegetables for their family.
  • NOT FOR LAWNS or SLOPED AREAS

  • A good idea. The execution is a little rough at this point.
Nice concept. Weirdly fun. Kinda pricy. The "Guidelines for Success" one sheeter should really say that watching the How To videos on tertill.com is pretty much the only way to see a lot of fairly critical information. It is not easy to tell if the robot is on or just stuck. Not clear what the lights are doing on it other than just being entertaining... -->> update - I was able to easily get through to the company on email and got very helpful information. Right now, I would say you really need to watch all of the How To videos on their website. For example, the only place I see that actually tells you how to turn on the robot (it takes two button pushes and there is a delay after hitting the button so it is not completely obvious) is in a video called something like "Setup Your Garden" - I thought mine was setup so I did not watch that one right away... It is also really a good idea to get the phone app so that you can get a "read out" of what the robot is "doing" when it is silent - you can see battery life, etc. ... show more

  • Not so impressed
I was so excited to get this, being very drawn to the solar powered batteries. I have a raised bed in a greenhouse, and I was looking for time savers. I've had this for about a year now. I was disappointed for a few reasons. 1) The set up for this is VERY tedious. Needed LOTS of barriers to keep it away from my seedlings. And, in order to allow room for passage of the Tertill, I regretted the loss of growing space. 2) When the battery needs to be recharged, it powers down, but you have to manually restart it - not the set-it-and-leave-it that the promos state. 3) It frequently gets caught up in a corner or on a rock and will just spin it's wheels until it dies. 4) It really likes to go down hill. Hopefully your garden is level and flat. if not, it will tend to stay on the downhill side ALL the time. Frankly, I wish I'd passed on this purchase. ... show more

  • It works
We bought this late last summer when we moved to a new house with a very large vegetable garden. We have a 6ft x 30 ft section enclosed with wire guards around potato plants and it definitely works. Attached photos show Tertill area around the potatoes vs. Non-tertill around the sweet corn and potatoes which was weeded with a hoe 1 week ago. A couple of lessons learned: 1. Start with a weed free level surface and Tertill should keep it fairly weed free. 2. Make sure you have sufficient border or Tertill will make a break for it. 3. Keep obstacles out of the way (the few weeds in the Tertill section above are because we had a hose running through there this week and it got hung up on it). 4. Check on Tertill throughout the week. Sometimes it digs itself into a hole and needs an assist. Solar power works like a charm. I charged it inside for the first go (and first time out for the season) and haven't need to charge it since. Given the size of the garden, we are buying a second one. It's not perfect, but it significantly cuts down on weeding. ... show more

  • Yay! No more weeding in my garden!
This little guy has been fun to watch and has also done it’s job great. This is my first garden season using the gadget, so far not a single weed has survived in ~3 months. I have an 8’x8’x12” raised bed with plants spaced out according to the requirements on the instructions and my border is about a 6” above the soil (new & deep) level so there should be no escaping. Most of the garden gets full sun with a bit of afternoon shade. To be safe I do also have wire guards around each plant as well. When it runs it sounds like a very quiet weed wacker. It runs about 5 minutes, stops for a while and starts up again (as long as it has had sun to charge). I did buy this when on sale and am pleased with my purchase. I seriously have not weeded once. My only complaint would be to use the app I have to be very close to the device, but I suppose I don’t need to monitor it that often. I would recommend this! ... show more

  • Need a perfectly flat garden
Got this for my aging mom, to help her garden. It didn't work well at all. The garden has to be almost perfectly flat for the robot to work. Her garden is on a slight slope. The rain washed loose dirt around that mounded up and overwhelmed this bot. It ended up going nowhere and spinning the weed whacker a lot. After tilling, this thing struggled with the dirt clods. I set it loose before planting to see how it would do. I spent a lot of time tilling the garden again, adding sand and topsoil, and smoothing out the garden as much as possible. Would not recommend this, except for maybe a small raised bed. Unless your garden is perfectly flay, this bot will struggle, especially after a rain. ... show more

  • So far so good
This little guy is fun to watch weed wack little weeds. I let him loose in the garden that I weeded for the first time this season last weekend and he is going to town wacking the little weeds that I missed or are coming up. I put a little fence around some baby plants in the garden. My only concern is that I have drip irrigation set up and it says not to get him wet , so I think I will move him to a spot where I don't have to worry about him getting wet. It may be a little more gimmick at this point and he needs a little more control over his movements, somewhat like my robot vacuum in the house where it does a grid, because this little guy doesn't seem to be covering his territory in the most efficient way possible but if I don't have to weed, I am ok with that. ... show more

  • Unfortunately this cute little guy did not work for us in Hawaii but I still recommend this company
I was so hoping that this would work in my rose gardens here in Hawaii but it could not keep up with the weeds at the rate that they grow here or work with the soil that we have here. Unfortunately I tried to return it 1 day too late for Amazon to accept it but Tertill kindly reached out to me and is taking care of this outside of Amazon and even gave me a full refund. So even though this cute little robot did not work for me I highly recommend this company for their integrity. ... show more
