Description

MULTIPLE INTERNATIONAL AWARD WINNER | ESTATE COLLECTION | TRACEABLE FROM FARM TO YOUR TABLE VIA LOT NUMBER ON EACH TIN Noted for its warm, buttery flavor and notes of black pepper, the Terra Creta Estate Kolymvari Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The olive leaves are fed to farm animals, the water from washing is used for irrigation, and the pits warm up the olive mill water. The Terra Creta mill and bottling plant are certified for oil production and are proudly a plasticizer-free factory. A plasticizer is a substance (typically a solvent) added to a synthetic resin to promote plasticity, flexibility, and reduce brittleness. In many factories around the world, plasticizers can be found in plastic tubes and equipment; however, medical research has shown plasticizers to be highly carcinogenic. No plastic materials ever come in contact with Terra Creta olive oil as it could contaminate the oil. We recommend to our consumers that they never purchase olive oil supplied in plastic containers. Terra Creta's goal is to produce the highest quality products nature can provide, improving the health and well-being of people the world over. Once you obtain your purchase, you can trace where the olives from your olive oil were harvested. Every Terra Creta bottle has a Lot number stamped on it where you can go to the Terra Creta Traceability Tree, type in your Lot number, and zoom into the portion of Terra Creta Estate where the olives from your bottle were grown. This brings home the point that what you purchased has a precise, traceable history that leads you to the Kolymvari region on the island of Crete.

  • Fragrant and fruity olive oil, great value for quality
I am picky about olive oils and had read some negative reviews about the state of the containers, but I'm on my 4th order of this oil and, aside from a few dents, I've had nothing but great experiences with this oil. It is really lovely in how fresh and fruity it tastes. I use it for finishes as well as for cooking, putting it in a smaller bottle I use on an every day basis. This is one of the better oils I have purchased. Highly recommend it. With some lemon juice and salt, and a touch of Greek oregano, it's the perfect dressing for a salad. ... show more

  • Still looking for that bold, peppery OO
I bought this based on reviews about the outstanding taste. I have been looking for a dupe of a super expensive Italian evoo I had bought a few years ago at a high priced specialty kitchenware retailer. That oil is the standard by which all others are measured, but I just can’t justify the price. I know there’s a value version out there- I just can’t find it! This is oil is fine. It’s 1000x better than anything you’ll find on the grocery shelf, and most of what’s on Amazon (I’ve tried a LOT) that’s for sure. It has a delicate flavor of olive with a very light hint of pepper on the finish. It’s definitely not rancid or bitter, so I’m guessing the people who wrote those reviews got spoiled product. For the price (I got it on sale) you can’t beat it for 3 liters. Still, I had high hopes after all of the rave reviews, but the flavor is just not the bold, rich, peppery one I am looking for. For comparison, my favorite wines are big, bold, dry Cabernets so if you’re a moscato drinker, maybe this has bold flavor to you lol. The search continues… ... show more

  • THE VERY BEST EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL EVER
THE VERY VERY BEST EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL I HAVE EVER TASTED... AND I HAVE BEEN CONSUMING EVOO FOR OVER 45 YEARS... AND THIS IS AWESOME...SO GOOD...SWEET...FRESH...NEVER BITTER LIKE MOST EVOO OUT IN THE MARKET PLACE.... THE PROBLEM IS THAT CONSUMERS ARE NOT EDUCATED IN THE FACTS OF THIS PRODUCT...IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF ELLORA...THE SMALL WONDERFUL COMPANY WHO SELLS AND PRODUCES THIS EVOO... WOULD CREATE A YOUTUBE VIDEO AND REALLY EXPLAIN AND ENLIGHTEN THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL THAT IS PRODUCED AT THEIR 3000 YEAR OLD OLIVE GROWING ESTATE FARMS..IN CRETE... I AM ALWAYS RECOMMENDING THIS OIL AND EXPLAINING TO FRIENDS ABOUT COLD EXTRACTION AS OPPOSED TO COLD PRESSING...AS WELL AS SINGLE SOURCE....AS WELL AS THE IMPORTANCE OF PURCHASING EVOO IN A CAN/TIN...WHICH KEEPS OUT ALL LIGHT..THUS KEEPING THE OIL FRESH AND A BRIGHT GREEN...AS OPPOSED TO BUYING EVOO IN BOTTLES WHICH HAVE BEEN SITTING IN SUPERMARKET SHELVES FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG...RENDERING THE EVOO RANCID AND UNHEALTHY...AS WELL AS BECOMING BITTER THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT THE ONLY GOOD EVOO IS SINGLE ORIGIN...AND COMES IN A TIN... TO KEEP IT FRESH AND WAY FROM LIGHT EXPOSURE ALSO THE FACT THAT THE CRETE EVOO HAS BEEN PRODUCED FOR OVER 3000 YEARS...MOST PEOPLE JUST DO NOT KNOW BETTER... ESPECIALLY THESE DAYS WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY FAKE MIXED OLIVE OILS.. FROM ALL DIFFERENT COUNTRIES...WITH DIFFERENT FRESHNESS...TASTE TERRIBLE AND NOW IN ITALY THE MAFIA IS GETTING INVOLVED IN THE ITALIAN OLIVE INDUSTRY... SO THIS IS PREMIUM AND SOOOO VERY GOOD... I JUST GAVE THIS AS A GIFT TO A GOOD FRIEND AND I AM ABOUT ORDER SOME FOR MYSELF... I LOVE THIS OLIVE OIL SO VERY GOOD , I WOULD LIKE TO BUY HUNDREDS OF CANS TO STOCK UP FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE..... • I thought I knew...
I had written a negative review initially. The flavor took some getting used to as a dipping oil. It's lightly peppery. After my initial negative reaction, I was still in possession of the entire container. I started cooking with it, started eating more, became a fan. I just ordered my second container. ... show more

  • Depending on your taste....could be great or too bitter.
There are a few grades of this oil. This one is cheapest by the way. In my opinion this one is too strong, too bitter, too "double virgin" but...... again it's inexpensive one..... Difficult to argue about taste. Greek oil is different from Italian one. I'm not from Greece, but their olive oil is the only one for me to enjoy. Italian oil like their wine mostly OK but too mild and faceless, no character, however i cannot say about all boutique brands for sure. Greek oil is the magic one for me. Brands to go for IMHO: 1. Xenia( difficult to find besides duty free in Athens airport) 2. Mani- incredible, could be found in US and inexpensive for around 30$. 3) Iliada is great too, a bit stronger than Mani but still great for all subtle salads and bread dipping tests. So for all those people who enjoy bitter aftertaste , oversaturated oil this one could be the ticket(anyway better than your all Costco offerings :) For all other people who love reach wonderful, but more subtle taste of Greek oil - i would recommend to try Iliada oil from the same distributors on Amazon. Have a nice meal !!! :) ... show more

  • Legit
I lived in western Crete - just on the other side of the peninsula where this oil comes from - for over a year, and go back whenever I can to visit. I won't buy olive oil from anyplace other than Greece, and while I would prefer Cretan oil, it's hard to come by where I live in Washington, DC. I've been buying a perfectly good Greek oil by the 3L tin from a local Greek/Italian restaurant, and paying around $36 for it. I can't believe it took me this long to search on Amazon to see what they might have. I was thrilled to find this - better oil, less expensive, and delivered promtly to my door via Prime. I very much hope this continues to be offered on Amazon, as this will definitely be my go-to EVOO as long as I can get it here! ... show more
