    • Stylish sconces look great, but parts are vulnerable to the elements in humid climate

This is an attractive wall sconce, but be aware you might encounter some quality control isssues. Mine arrived intact (unlike some reviewers' lights) and looked nice. I had my electrician install two of them today, and it wasn't until after the fact that it became apparent one isn't perfectly straight: although the base is flush to the wall, the bottom of the light hangs substantially closer to the wall than the top does. This may seem like a minor thing, but since it is positioned within sight of the second sconce (which is perfectly straight), the second one looks pretty off-kilter and janky in comparison. Since it is already installed -- and the electrician threw away the box -- I can't return it, alas. I would advise purchasers to look closely at items before installing. I primarily checked for broken glass windows, and the uneven attachment of the cylinder to the base didn't catch my eye until it was too late. That said, the sconces looks sharp and generate an attractive light pattern on the wall. They have received multiple compliments from visitors. There has been some discussion of E26 vs E27 bulb sizes; no worries here... a standard LED bulb (rated for enclosed fixtures, of course) fits and works fine. **** FOLLOW UP from SEVERAL MONTHS LATER **** After living with these sconces for a while, I have to lower my rating by a star. While the bodies of the sconces have resisted major degradation so far, the top and bottom lids, mounting plates, and hardware have not fared well. All of them show corrosion, rust and general decay, making these recent purchases look sad and decrepit before their time. My sconces are mounted beneath an overhang in a location where they are not directly exposed to the elements, making their short lifespan even more surprising and disappointing. The cylindrical bodies of the sconces are still mostly presentable, but signs of corrosion starting are visible on those, as well. One other weird thing: one of the sconces filled up with an opaque whitish goop. Looks like the sealant used to attach the clear windows to the body foamed up and dripped everywhere. The gunk that poured out when I removed the endcap was vile. Glad it didn't cause a short or worse. All in all, I regret spending money on these for outdoor use: seems like they can't stand up to a humid climate like the one in which I live. For drier climates or for indoor applications, you might be pleased with them, though. ++++ UPDATE from OCTOBER 2020 ++++ Had to remove another star from the rating. In addition to the mounting plates, endcaps and fasteners, the cylindrical bodies are showing more visible corrosion. The thin metallic coating on the top and bottom lids continues to bubble and flake off. The foaming opaque goop has returned multiple times in one sconce. All in all, these give the impression of being much older than they are, and will need to be replaced soon. One would expect $70 fixtures designed for outdoor use and advertised as waterproof to last longer than a year and a half. I reached out to Tengxin for assistance, and am happy to report that their customer service was prompt and helpful. They proposed sending replacement top and bottom lids and ballnuts, which would help improve their appearance a bit, but given the overall corrosion on the cylinders, I asked for complete replacement sconces in the black finish, in hopes that they would be more weather-resistant (or at least hide corrosion better). Tengxin sent replacements, as requested. Kudos to the seller for excellent customer service. Overall, I think that a fixture with a solid top makes more sense than something with a removable lid that can be exposed to wind-driven rain. If you are planning to use these indoors, that obviously won't be a consideration... but I don't feel comfortable recommending these for outdoor applications in humid climates or in locations that aren't well protected from the elements. ... show more

I love these lights so far. I am using two of them on both sides of my garage doors. I have always been a fan of up/down lights outside so they don't contribute to light pollution much at night on our rural street because I keep them on all night. They were relatively easy to install, no different than most other outdoor lights, but these have two screws pre-installed on the bracket for attaching the fixture to in which you screw the caps onto to hold the light fixture onto the bracket. Well, those screws were too long! So when I screwed on the caps, the entire fixture didn't sit flush against the wall and instead was sort of hanging there because the caps couldn't be screwed any further. I couldn't believe it. Luckily I had some extra screws that were the same width so the caps could be screwed on them but were shorter so the caps could be screwed on tightly. Problem solved, but I wish the lights came with the proper length screws to begin with! Anyway, still love these lights. I am using them with four Inovelli Z-Wave Plus RGB bulbs that I leave in soft white mode but it will be fun to be able to change the colors around the holidays, for example. Hopefully, they last a while outside. These fixtures seem to be sealed well so I am hoping for the best with the bulbs. Great fixtures, bad screws! ... show more

I fitted these with some dimmable LED bulbs and they look fantastic. The mounting is pretty much like any normal fixture you will buy these days. The hardware is all Stainless as advertised. The bulb compartment is sealed air/water tight so I do suggest LED bulbs. Incandescent bulbs would not live long bathing in their own heat. Each fixture holds two standard bulbs, one points up and the other points down. The end caps simply pull off to replace the bulbs. The they are held in place by the silicone rubber seals which have multiple ribs so they should continue to hold in place for years. There is no seal between the electrical box and the fixture which is understandable. There are too many types of boxes out there to make a gasket that would do a good job. Some clear silicone to seal the base to the wall should suffice in most cases. Every install is different so plan on figuring out something for sealing the fixture to the electrical box and/or your wall. There are well built fixtures, I would not hesitate to buy again. I mention good customer service because the first one I received had a shattered glass insert because the delivery people played football with it before giving it to me. I clicked on the Amazon links for issues and a replacement was sent out that day. I received it the very next day. ... show more

Very stylish, and provided a nice light. Have had these for 2.5 years. The tops are corroded and peeling. The plastic lenses have cracked. It works, but doesn't look great any more. Save your money and buy something better.

Great stainless wall mount light. Can be used inside or outside. Two bulbs one faces up , one faces down. It uses ceramic sockets and glass covers. The only issue is it's a very shallow mount so you have to have an electrical junction box to mount it because using the proper size wire nuts without a box it wont mount flush. The work around is to make a 1" hole in the wall so u can tuck the wire nuts in. The wire nuts it comes with are not the correct size for indoor or outdoor installation. It would fit if u use the tiny wire nuts it comes with but they are not up to code. The light is very good quality and the install is easy if your mounting it to an electrical box. I'll update after a rain storm to see if they leak. They look to be good quality stainless. I'll also update if they rust. I'm in FL so I'll know in a few months. They also come with the electrical box mounting brackets. Update 2 years later No rust no leaking they are holding up very well. ... show more
