Purchased two of these as Christmas gifts for toddlers. Right out of the box the product works with no issues or set up. Visually it is a fun product with a bright frame. You do need to tie the "pen" to the actual writing tablet to prevent them from getting separated. It mimics regular writing materials in that you can only write with one side of the "pen" although I could see it being made so either side is viable as a writing instrument. The actual writing only comes out in "one color", meaning it does not allow the user to change shades or color, I believe the color is based on the board itself. Based on the pictures, I did think the doodles or writing on the board would be very bright, but it was not quite as bright as I had anticipated, but still very usable. I think this is a fun, easy to use educational or doodle style board and is a great tool for the price. I think the product would be even better if they had two different types of tips on the ends of the "pen", increasing versatility. Also, allowing the user to change shades and brighten or darken the the overall color might make the doodling and use of the board even more fun and immersive. ... show more

These things are awesome, super easy for the kids to use, easy to take in the car/travel with, and keep her entertained for hours! I had to immediately order my son (3.5) one as well to prevent them from fighting over sharing a doodleboard…so now we actually have 3 doodle boards as I also bought one for daycare.
