By far one of my favorite workout products! I had also purchased Iron Core Athletics Wall Mount Pull Up Bar - This Heavy Duty Wall Mount Pull Up Bar Has Four Mounting Bolts on Each Side Offering Superior Strength and More Secure Mounting but couldn't use it due to the setup in my house (not the product's fault). I could not find any mountable pull-up bars that would work in my house given the metal studs and where it would have to go on the outer CBS walls. I have one of the standard Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar and it works great, don't get me wrong. The challenge is you simply cannot close the door which gets annoying. This product is different. While it is advertised first as an inversion bar, I find the multitude of grips possible outstanding for pull-ups and chin-ups. The install process is really easy as long as you have a standard wood frame door (if you are not sure, please check!). The directions are clear. You are simply going to install a little bracket on either side of the door frame (outside of the door) and then extend the frame (one side of the frame is smaller than the other so it can telescope) and hook the frame into the brackets. I hang upside down 1-3x/day for 2-3 minutes and also add in some abs while I'm hanging. Pros: * Extremely sturdy. I'm only 160lbs but feel very comfortable on this. * Easy install. * Gravity boots are great. * The hand grips for chin-ups are high quality (sounds trivial but makes a difference). * The additional height from the portion that comes up past the door helps with true pullups. * During install, the unit is in a few pieces (bars mostly). They very helpfully have numbered stickers where joints should meet. So one bar might have 2 stickers on it to indicate where it joins (match the "1s" together). Super helpful and I wish more products had this. Cons (most are things I just wish were more clear so hopefully this helps someone else) * The bar is only affixed in one place - at the top. So the bottom still can move out from the door. This means you need to be careful if you have to jump to do pull-ups or anything. I attached a picture highlighting this. * You can only do chin-ups from the inside because of what I mentioned above. * Again due to the fact that the bottom doesn't latch, I have very minor damage to the door frame - nothing too bad. * The instructions direct you to install the "big" pole in one bracket and the "small" in another. This sounds simple but was kind of confusing, nothing crazy. ... show more

Yes, its an expensive (comparatively) pull-up bar. Granted the boots will set you back about a buck by themselves. But this is one piece of workout equipment I now realize I seriously can't live without. Plagued with lower back pain from not keeping up with my core workouts, (yes ab strength has A LOT to do with back pain..) I was looking for a way to work my midsection and decompress my spine at the same time, and this is the ticket. Installation is a breeze, if you can hang a simple doorway pullup bar, this is the same concept. Assemble the frame, measure 2" from the top of the door jamb, drill six holes and secure the hangers. Don't believe all the nay-sayers. A shred of common sense goes a long way for this procedure. For anyone concerned about safety, as long as your door frame is in good shape, don't worry about a thing. I weigh 175# and hung from it holding (2) 50# dumbells, swinging and shaking like crazy, not a creak at all. Pop the boots on, tighten till snug yet still comfortable, swing your feet up, hook on and reeeelaaaax... It's amazing to say the least. Within two, ten-minute sessions I felt relief similar to seeing the chiro. Hanging upside-down is somewhat a new feeling, but after a couple minutes its not that awkward. The hardest part is learning to just hang there and relax your body. Its almost meditative... Once I was comfortable I tried some inverted sit-ups, twists and stretches back and forth. Then I got crazy with it and started to do some inverted squats. (THAT'S interesting. Try it if you get a chance...) Haven't watched the DVD yet, but I just wanted to get a feel for inversion. All in all, very well built, versatile, useful piece of equipment. I don't see myself buying another pull up bar ever again either. (The top bar, albeit lacking foam grips, is the perfect height and position for a good, long extension in-between reps of wide pull ups.) Sidenote: The first one Amazon sent me was missing a boot and two of the bars, the box was taped up kinda funny, but most likely busted open at some time in its journey. Filed for a replacement, and within 24 hrs I had a new one from Amazon. That Prime membership has payed off big-time btw... ... show more

    • Great product...if you're reasonably fit
First, a word about the order: one of the parts was missing. Amazon could not have handled it better, gave me three choices: full refund, replacement, or partial refund. I chose the latter, which meant I needed to get the missing part directly from the manufacturer. They were extremely helpful as well, so I ended up getting the part shipped to me for free, plus a $65 credit from Amazon. The inversion system is superbly engineered and was pretty simple to assemble & install. In spite of having read the reviews, I was unprepared for how daunting it was to swing myself up there for the first time! It's a very odd sensation. I'd had a Teeter table before...this was a totally different experience. I would definitely not recommend this for a person who is less than reasonably fit (or who is very tall and/or very heavy). Anyway, once past that initial "OMG" moment, everything was fine. The Teeter table I had before helped to heal my knees, and I have no doubt that this device will help considerably with my current issue (minor degenerative spinal compression). All things considered, if you have the space and the extra $$ I'd recommend one of the tables. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be an athlete (I'm not!), but it is a little bit of a challenge the first couple of times. One aspect that is better than the tables: the gravity boots are easier to deal with than strapping your feet into the table; you don't need shoes, and the "calf loops" (apparently a newer addition) distribute your weight better...it's actually more comfortable on your ankles/shins than the table system. ... show more
