I had an older handheld paint sprayer for several years until it finally got to gummed up. My wife used it more than I did and never really liked it anyway. I wanted to get another one but wasn't sure what to look for. When I saw this one, I decided to order it. I had seen the ones where you could carry the motor over your shoulder but wasn't sure if it would work for us. I can safely say that it does work well for our needs and is much easier to clean than the older one that we had before. It's a little different in carrying the blower/motor while painting, but it does free up your hand a little more. Since the sprayer is lighter, it makes it easier to make your paint passes on whatever you're painting. I'm happy with this since I won't be using it that much in general. ... show more

    • Easy and Effective
I’ve just completed staining 70’ of recently replaced fence using the TDAGRO paint sprayer. I’d used a conventional all-in-one sprayer for the original fence years ago, and still remember the noise and back strain. This sprayer is an upgrade in every way. The package includes everything you need (and then some) - you get the spray gun assembly, the pump base and hose, a strap, extra spray heads and regulators, cleaning equipment, a viscosity cup and a hose holder that attaches to the base. The manual has oddly light printing for the diagrams, but the instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow. One note is that there is no explanation of the 4 included nozzles in the manual, so I had to go back to the product page (I’ve saved a copy of it as a PDF just in case); TDAGRO appears to be an online-only retailer, so additional resources are non-existent. For actual use, the process was a breeze - plug in the base, attach the hose, fill the reservoir, attach it to the gun, attach the gun to the hose, and you’re set. Just turn on the base and spray. The trigger can be adjusted to restrict how far you can pull it (to give you a standard spray velocity), but I found it was easy to regulate on the fly as I was spraying. The flow is even and you can adjust the spray shape from horizontal to vertical or round by switching the spray head orientation, which has visible guides that make it easy. The compressor is also surprisingly quiet for something so powerful - I used ear protection while spraying, but it was considerably quieter than a hairdryer (and my last sprayer). My lone complaint was the size of the reservoir - it only holds 800 ml (though you can probably fit closer to 900-1000 ml). This meant I could generally complete a single 7’ section of fence before I needed to refill. They make 1200 ml units, so I’m not sure why they went with such a smaller one here. The spray mechanism is simple, so clean up (using acrylic stain) was really simple - I just soaked in water, rinsed, and then scrubbed where needed with the included brush. Compared with brush or roller work over large areas, this sprayer is night and day for speed and uniformity of coverage. As I got better with practice, I found I could also do a fair amount of detail work by holding the sprayer closer to the fence and applying less pressure on the trigger, getting far better results than I could get with a brush (though a brush is handy for smoothing out any accumulations or drips if you’re applying more paint). I look forward to my next interior painting job, as I expect that will be far more efficient too. ... show more

I ruined my first paint sprayer because it got glommed up. It was one of those handheld ones. I looked at replacing it with one like this, but they were hundreds of dollars at the hardware store. When I received this, it was summertime, I didn't want to mess it up. I waited until the weather got nicer. The thing I really like about this, is the motor is far away from the sprayer. The idea is, that the motor pushes air through the hose and that is what propels the paint out. This helps to contain the paint to the spray area. The sprayer has large parts which makes it easier to clean and because the motor is in the lower part, it makes the handheld area much lighter, preventing fatigue. I'm impressed with this little machine. Great deal at this price point. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My wife saw a DIY project on social media where someone used an old sewing machine table to make a bar cart (beverage cooler), with the flip open top used as a table. I took it upon myself to sand the thing down and prep it for painting. This was a perfect opportunity for me to use the paint sprayer for the very first time. That’s right, no practice or warm ups on this project. She picked out the color of paint, I poured it in the sprayer and off to the races I went. The video I took did not do the sprayer justice. For only using a similar sprayer once many, many years ago, and for staining a fence, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to spray even coats of paint onto the project, which now included a small metal table. Take a look at the pics of the end results. My wife’s happy, and if she’s happy, I’m happy. She recently painted a large corner bookshelf with a brush and wished we had the sprayer for that project as well. Cleanup was a breeze. I used a garden hose to spray out the bottle, paint tube and nozzle components. I then put it all back together and ran a few bottles of water through it. Everything fit nicely back in the box, to be stored in the shed until the next painting or staining job comes along. The one issue that I have, and it may have more to do with my technique and not the sprayer, is that there was a lot of wasted paint. I did have it adjusted to heavy spray for most of the project, and then realized the problem and turned the paint volume down. Spraying the skinny legs of the two tables also caused a lot of overspray and wasted paint.
