My main TV is a 75" U8K and I am pleased with the quality of the image, especially the brightness. I picked up this little 50 incher to serve as a desktop monitor and to use for personal TV watching. For $219.00 on sale it is a great deal. A few years ago I laid out over $3,000.00 for a 55" LCD TV, the largest made at the time. Evolution of LCD technology is something else. This TV provides a very good picture with lots of adjustability, which I appreciate. The black level is good enough for casual viewing, and the brightness is OK for the price level. It's a perfect choice for my application and I harbor no regrets. Leave it to the techno geeks to drill down to measured details of the display, ,..but for me this is a solid choice for a mid-size tv, if you buy with a modicum of quality expectations. The sound is decent, not tinny but I connected a pair of Edifier 1700 series self powered speakers to bring home the soundstage. It all works very nicely. ... show more

I've become a complete convert on these TCL TV's. I use this TV on my back patio and it offers incredible value for the money. I run the entire TV off the home wifi and the Google system and apps work flawlessly. The picture is brighter and nicer than previous versions and I believe the sound might have even improved. One note is that previous TCL's that I have owned operated on Roku system. Although this Google system works fine, the Roku operating system definitely works faster although they're both easy to use. ... show more

The picture quality is good It's got HDR which some don't, of course its not quite on the level of a Samsung or LG. It's also no where near the price. The sound quality is pretty good. I've never had an issue with the smart tv function, sometimes its a bit slow but that could also be the fact the Remote seems to generally connect to the TV via Bluetooth and can take a few seconds to reconnect if not used for a while. ... show more

Picture quality is good for a cheap secondary TV in the house. I wanted a google TV because roku, firetv, and apple all bite the big one! Yeah, it's a noticably slower than the add-on chromecast, but what do you expect at this price point? Update 2: The system freaked out today. It kept looping like it was trying to restart so I had to unplug it to reset the system and then all was fine. I turned off the standby feature so that hopefully it'll reboot every time I power it up. Went from 4 stars to 3. Update 3: yes, it now reboots every time I power it on, but it will still die in the middle of streaming a show (different apps) at least once a day. I have to physically pull the plug and restart everything. This is now a one star review and I completely regret taking a chance on TCL. I'm hoping an external Chromecast will stop these issues. I wish it had RCA out (to feed my secondary amp for the outdoor speakers. I used the headphone jack to RCA) and also wish you could program the IR remote to control the AVR volume (ARC didn't work). But, again, for this price, you can't expect everything. The TCL free channels were buggy at best, but you can stick to Pluto if you want free content. I know most people don't use their TVs flat on a recycled gaming desk frame like this, but this was the use case for this monitor. I needed a 43" 4K monitor and this TCL Google TV was the perfect one. The biggest feature that this TV has that I like is the fact that you can set it to remember the last input when powering up. As a result, I don't have to switch out of the Smart TV mode in order to get the monitor connected to the Computer. Not all TVs do this and not all TCL TVs do this. As for the display, the picture quality is amazing, I've set it up for low latency, high contrast, and vivid colors. It makes the virtual pinball tables look fantastic. There is no smearing when the ball is moving all over the table, lights flashing, and flippers going wild. Value is great as well. I did WAY too much research on TVs and found this to be a great value for the size, the 4K picture quality, and the 240Hz Motion Rate which helps with the rapidly moving images. Shipping was fast and well done. Packaging is typical for TVs nowadays, slim box with accessories on the top. No damage in shipping, all worked beautifully out of the box. I will definitely be buying this one again for future Pinball Tables. ... show more

This is even more impressive when considering I am well into my 70s and partially disabled. I just received this TV and I am impressed. The only thing I did not like was the short time it takes for it to shut down if there is no input detected. But that is not serious at all. From box to watching TV took about 20 minutes and, if I did not have to take as many breaks, I believe that could be shortened to 10 minutes or so. I want to say that I bought a "smart" TV but I really do not need one. I have an audio/video system and the cables I run to the TV is exactly one. It looks like this TV can be set up where it bypasses all the "smart" crap and goes straight to the chosen HDMI port and that is what I have done. It works great that way and it makes changing out TV quite a bit easier. I have NO over the air TV access so all I really need is a monitor but it is a LOT cheaper to buy a smart TV than a dumb one. As I said I just received this 50 inch TV today so I cannot say anything about longevity. However I did want to give a quick review for now. BTW: The TV it is replacing is a 10 year old TCL TV. I like TCL TVs and I trust them. That 10 year old TV is replaced not for any failure but because my 4 year old grand kid has a LOT more power than accuracy. ... show more
