  • These outlets work very well
Style: EXTRA DUTY
Firstly, the reviews that say that the GFCI fails after working once or failed altogether upon flipping the circuit breaker are caused by user error. GFCIs are *very* sensitive during operation and will not work if they are installed incorrectly. I also wired one incorrectly the first time and it wouldn't work. Of course it didn't. After a face palm, I wired that one correctly and it unsurprisingly worked. If you have any problems, FOLLOW THE MANUAL. The diagrams in the manual show exactly where the wires go. These kits are also sold at Lowes, but they are cheaper on Amazon. It isn't like this is an untested company, either. Taymac makes industrial-grade electric components. These boxes are built well. They seem to be designed such that there are no pieces that could break due to standard wear and tear. Installing the box to my house was easy enough once I got creative with cutting my siding. The cuts I had to make were 1/2" horizontal slices to allow mounting tabs to fit behind the siding. If this was a new house, I certainly would have installed the boxes before installing the siding to prevent these cuts. However, I needed to apply caulk in order to weatherproof the connection between the house and box, so adding a little extra caulk for these slices fixes the problem. The only way anyone would know I did it is if they are actively looking for imperfections. If I am going to nit-pick about anything, the only design flaw I have found is the slot at the bottom of the box, where your power cord goes. It needs to be removed either permanently, leaving a small hole at the bottom, or removed and not lost every time I use the box. I think it would be better to have this slot spring-loaded so I can open the cover, plug my power cord, press the cord gently against the slot, and close the cover again. I don't want to have to keep track of this slot, but alas, I do. I bought three of these units. Every one of them works perfectly. If I decide to add more outlets to an outside structure, or build a new structure that needs power, I will be using these boxes (unless Taymac makes a revision to fix the slot problem!). I highly recommend these. ... show more

  • Nice Product
Style: EXTRA DUTY
Well made, feels substantial and my electrician totally gave me the thumbs up as he installed it. He replaced an old outside outlet that blew and now it’s safe and waterproofed.

  • Smart shopping.
Style: EXTRA DUTY
The intent was to use this item as a cover to protect the power feed for a new tankless water heater. As it is a kit all needed items are enclose. Also, in the kit bundle the price is less than buying the parts individually.

  • Everything included!
Style: EXTRA DUTY
I liked the way everything was included for this project. We needed an outlet on the side of our garage for path lights and Xmas lights. Paired with an Alexa switch in the garage, we now have our lights on autopilot!

  • Everything in one package
Style: EXTRA DUTY
If you've been to a hardware store lately, you know that stuff like this is hit/miss for being in stock. I wanted to replace an old outlet on the front of the house with something that looks better and actually keeps the weather out. I liked the idea of getting the box, cover, and GFCI outlet all in one package. It showed up and after taking it apart it has everything you need except some wall anchors and caulking to seal it to the house. If you are adding it or replacing an existing gang box keep in mind that this one doesn't have holes to bolt to the wall. It does have clips/screws you can use but I wanted to reuse the existing anchors so I had to drill a couple of holes in the gang box. No big deal, just letting you know. It installed quickly once I drilled holes to match the old wall anchors. I hit the back with some outdoor silicone in gray that matches the gang box and our brick, that keeps any water from getting inside the box or the house. The 20 amp gfci seems like any outlet, yeah, it's cheaper than a Leviton, etc. but if it works for a few years you can always replace it with a better one down the line. I like the cover because it has the removable plastic piece at the bottom so that you can leave an extension cord plugged in and the cover stays down. Overall, it was actually cheaper than buying everything separately, seems well made as far as the cover goes, a metal gang box is a metal gang box, and the gfci is working. ... show more
