  • Amazing
I'm a complete beginner. Started with a cheap $200 Ibanez that had a really high action, just couldn't get a good tone out of it after months of practice. Had a few friends who are accomplished guitarists jam on it, same deal buzzy and just not pleasant in any style of playing. Saved up for a bit and was between this, the mahogony, or classic spruce. I got an awesome example of the Koa with a bold white blaze down the center, and good grain contrast across the top. Oh.. and it plays LIKE A DREAM. I improved overnight just getting it, and now I love playing and practicing. I think about pulling out that guitar and practicing when I'm at work or on travel and can't take it with me. Speaking of which, it is very portable compared to full size, the case is a real case with padding and support not some flimsy garbage with zippers that fail when you look at them. I'm in love with this guitar and you will be too. ... show more

  • I've always loved the sound of a good acoustic
Here, for a change, is a non-expert review (kind of). I've been playing for decades, but almost exclusively on electric guitars. I've always loved the sound of a good acoustic, but hated playing them. Too big and boxy, too hard to play Iron Maiden solos--you get it. This guitar is the perfect size for me, no grinding into the rib cage, and the playability is ridiculous. The action is very easy, perfect for solo picking, plus it strums like a champ. The sound that comes out of the guitar is the real story, though. I don't know how they did it, but acoustically it sounds like a much bigger guitar--one that happens to have amazing tone. The electronics are very good and the plugged-in sound is outstanding. I tried a friend's mahogany version and almost bought one of those but wound up ordering the koa version after reading reviews. Glad I did--as good at the mahogany GS Mini was, I think it's worth the money for the koa version--it just has that extra texture to the sound, more depth and sparkle at the same time. Materials and build are top-notch and it even comes with a really awesome rigid softcase. This is a ridiculous value for seven and a half bills. Highest recommendation. ... show more

Got the guitar used from amazon warehouse in very good condition. Shipping was fast and came in original packaging. The guitar was in its own soft case when I opened it and was like new with no damage on the guitar at all. Fantastic sounding and looks great! The fret broad was very comfortable for my small hands. The guitar that came was a 2018 version with the ES-B pickup instead of the ES-2 on older versions, which comes with an on board tuner but one less tone button. The ES-B uses two button batteries instead of a 9V. The action was slightly low on the guitar as typical for the Gs mini from what I have read, which makes it a little easier to play. Cons: plastic saddle, nut and bridge pins ( replaced mine with ebony with abalone dot) Little crowded in higher frets Laminate koa sides and back, not much flame on the solid koa top on the one I received ... show more

  • Absolutely LOVE
My husband bought this guitar for our 5 year anniversary (the theme was Wood - how fitting)!! Since I am a beginner I REALLY enjoyed that this guitar was smaller and even came with a gig case that I found very stylish and unique. I am progressing SO much in my playing - this is a great guitar for those who are starting out- just be sure to get it "set up" - having the "action" lowered at my local music store made it even easier to play. This is something my guitar teacher told me to do or otherwise I wouldn't have known any of that but it made a huge difference. ... show more

  • but I think it's still a good looking guitar
Bought this guitar to have something to play while working for a year in Kuwait. I was nervous having it sent through the mail, but I was surprised at the amount of packaging it arrived in. The guitar was in it's padded case and then molded foam was packed around that and there wasn't a ding on the guitar when I unpacked it. I didn't get the prettiest top, but I think it's still a good looking guitar. Pros: 1. This thing is loud. I played it in my room and was afraid I was annoying the neighbors. 2. Great tone. It's different than my Martin D-15, but I really like it's sound! 3. Very attractive wood. Cons: 1. I have massive hands and this guitar is a little hard for me to play, but I'll get used to it. (Not the guitar's fault!) 2. Strings. I believe they are mediums and I prefer lights. Easy fix. ... show more

  • good sound with amp but small fretboard
Sounds awesome when plugged into an amp ....... and pretty ok when not plugged in .....the fret-board is too small if you have big hands , so you can easily strum uh ..... c , g , d, d7, d minor , etc ...... but good luck with an a , or e7 etc etc etc etc etc ...... but nice and small if you like to travel though ... show more

The BEST quality as expected from Taylor, in a small compact beautiful body. The tone is rich with deep, lasting resonance. This new model has a built in tuner which is great!!! Crafted in Tecate at Taylor’s beautiful manufacturing headquarters and hand signed. This guitar exceeds expectations!!!

  • Quality guitar!
I really like this small guitar. Other reviewers have expressed concerns about the guitar strap and the electronics sharing the same space on this guitar's body. I don't really care about that, as I don't use a strap. So, I love this guitar! It's loud, it's fun, it sounds great, too!
