  • Best Podcast mixer
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
I recently picked up the Tascam Mixcast 4 Podcast Studio Mixer, and I have to say, I'm really impressed. This is a great little mixer that's perfect for podcasting or live streaming. It's compact and portable, so you can take it with you wherever you go. The Mixcast 4 is really easy to set up and use. It has four XLR inputs, which is perfect if you're recording a podcast with multiple hosts or guests. The mixer also has a USB interface, which makes it really easy to connect it to your computer and record directly into your DAW. One of the things I really appreciate about the Mixcast 4 is the sound quality. The preamps are really clean and transparent, and the mixer has a built-in compressor and EQ that help to shape the sound. I've used it to record both voiceovers and musical performances, and it's performed admirably in both situations. Another great feature of the Mixcast 4 is the headphone output. It has a built-in headphone amplifier that's really powerful and can drive even high-impedance headphones. This is great if you're recording in a noisy environment and need to monitor your audio closely. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase of the Tascam Mixcast 4 Podcast Studio Mixer. It's a high-quality mixer that's easy to use, portable, and produces excellent sound quality. If you're in the market for a new mixer for your podcast or live streaming setup, I highly recommend giving the Mixcast 4 a try. ... show more

  • I love this thing especially with two TRRS/cell phone ports/functionality built in, buuuuuuuutt
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
Update from 4 to 5 stars: The front Phones 1(TRRS) port always worked. It was my Y splitter that was bad. This thing ROCKS! 2nd Update from 5 to 4 stars: I don't know if it's the latest f/w update but playing audio from your computer through this sound bad and clips. I thought it was the recording into the camera but when I play something from my computer and route it through this via USB it sounds bad and very much clipped. If I play the same content over my computer speakers or speakers on my Dell monitor it sounds fine. Not only that, I paid nearly $600 after tax this past March and now it's selling new for $399!!! 3rd update here and back to 5 stars. If you want good playback from your computer via USB to the Mixcast 4, disable processing on the USB channel. It's ok to select none, voice or music from the voice settings but disable all other processing. I opened a support ticket and got a response from Teac within 24 hours asking me to call them while in front of the unit but I solved this and the call wasn't necessary so I'll give them 5 stars on customer support. Thank you Tascam/Teac. I got this to replace my Yamaha MG10XU + iRig 2 and it works swimmingly well! This thing oozes with quality and you can tell it's been well engineered and well thought out. The recent f/w update considered everyone's comments so thanks Tascam! I will update if and when I can get the front TRRS jack to work. I have two head sets and a Y cable that takes the mic plug and phones plug and brings them into one TRRS male plug. But I can't seem to get the port to pass any sound even after reading everything there is to read about it and reading the forums. It was over $600 delivered but you do get a real manual as well as a Tascam TM-70 microphone, 2 Tascam headsets and a 16 gig SD card. Tascam is smart in giving product away that probably won't sell, as an incentive to buy the Mixcast 4 and get them saturated and embraced in the world of podcasting and streaming. Now, back to getting this front TRRS port to work. ... show more

  • Works wonders for my podcast!
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
I heard about the Mixcast-4 from a good friend who had tremendous success integrating it with his video game streaming sessions. It is now the center of my podcasting sessions, where I'd now consider it a crucial component. I run four (different) microphones and this system makes it very easy to set levels and get them sounding just right, straight from the device itself. It also has trigger pads, so I can trigger music and sound effects within seconds when we are recording. Having the option to do this live, rather than in post, really elevated the vibes at our sessions and in turn helped us create better podcasts. Definitely a level up. If you are thinking about getting this system for podcasts or streaming, do it! You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Just what the doctor ordered.
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
Love everything about this. I tried four or five other workstations and wish I had found this one first. I didn’t want to spend the amount of money they’re asking for the road podcast station, but this was written in my price range and I’ve always loved Tascam products for many years.

  • Tascam comes through
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
I tried a few cheaper systems for podcasting. I also researched the industry "standard". For the price, the mixcast is a winner .. don't fall for the popular hype. Tascam has been around for years... This has all the features you need and then some.

  • Powerful and simple describes this machine
Style: Mixcast 4 Only
I am a researcher by nature and looked at various models before purchasing going deep down the rabbit hole. Initially I thought it was a pretty tight race between the Mixcast and it's competition, but a few features seemed to really launch it ahead as the front runner that I couldn't fully appreciate until I had the unit in my hands and in use for my podcast. I'd say first on my list was auto mix. I do have some technical chops, but I'm a one man show on the engineer and host side...i like quick and simple. I found the auto mix to be a really nice touch where I don't have to focus so much on the technical end during the actual broadcast/recording. My runner-up for 2nd appreciated feature that put me over the top was the software. It wasn't just for post-. It's has the ability to integrate with the unit directly. The software's capabilities met all my needs for form and function. A+ product. ... show more
