Like many, I pot up my starters into large cups which are a pain to move around (ie they fall over in square trays). The trays feel very sturdy, but mine came with every humidity dome shattered, as those pieces seem pretty brittle. No big deal since I likely wasn't going to use them. The cup tray also has holes in the bottom, something I wasn't expecting (have to tape over if you bottom water). An 18oz solo cup fits 'loose' in each slot as well, not necessarily a snug fit. I really like the idea of these, I just wish they were a bit thicker. If you try to pick it up one handed and it is full of cups w/ soil, you're gonna have a hard time. The only other thing of note is that there is no drainage considerations (no place to catch excess water). However, I implemented a "2 cup system": I put a handful of perlite in 12 cups, then I cut a square out of the bottom of 12 other cups, filled them with seed starting mix, and placed them inside of the perlite cups, allowing any excess water to drain into the perlite. I have germinated a season's worth of bush/pole beans, at least 8 herbs, 5 different types of lettuce, and several others using these trays and I will probably continue to use them until they give out, which none of them have so far. Plus, since everything is contained in the cups, keeping them clean is pretty easy. Otherwise, they are great. I don't have a ton of gardening space, so these allow me to have a smaller amount of cells with much more space per seedling, and can comfortably allow seedlings to develop for a few weeks before transplanting outside; unlike the 24+ cell trays that are like 2-3" deep. I definitely recommend, but if only using 1 cup/cell, be cautious when watering. ... show more

These are a Game Changer! If you use solo style cups to plant in, then you ABSOLUTELY NEED these. I initially bought ten to try out... They’re very sturdy and exceeded my expectations. I’m using 18 ounce cups I got at my local grocery store, (not Solo brand) and they fit perfectly with no wiggle room. Super happy! I’m buying ten more right now because I don’t have time for messing around with plant cups one by one anymore 💥 You know - I can see these being used for cups of actual drinks or cups of snacks at outdoor gatherings. Cover would keep out bugs. 🤷🏾 Just do yourself a favor and get some of these immediately. I promise you will like them!! ... show more

Bottom trays could be deeper. I do not like the fact that the 12 tray has holes in the bottom because the tray that goes on the bottom is to shallow. How ever this works ok because I use 18 oz double solo cups for up potting.

The tray is thick and sturdy, I like it a lot, except, it is not meant for 4” seed starting pots. My pots can be squeezed into the slots but I am not able to fit the dome appropriately. It is not the fault of the product though. I just I missed led by the other reviews.
