  • Decent functional bag
I bought this to fit my Asus G74sx - and it did fit! It was a bit tight, do not have any problems or resistance in zipping up the bag. The corners stick up though, and really doesn't provide much protection for the corners because of it. To be honest the rest of the sides of the laptop compartment aren't padded well either, I really wouldn't trust it in a good drop (to be fair >85% of laptop bags I've looked at are very similar in this failure). Apart from that, the bag itself is large enough for my needs. I usually have my laptop, charger, a small 12v inverter, 20ft cat5 cable, 1-2 500+ pg books, a couple spiral notebooks, a mouse, and random stationary in there - without problem. My pack can easily weigh 30+lbs and I will walk around with this for a couple miles without much discomfort (back and shoulder padding are nothing to write home about). The front has this weird clip for holding clothes or shoes on the outside (not closed) part of your bag. Not horribly useful in my experience, and it's rather annoying looking. My third biggest complaint is it's general design/looks. My BIGGEST problem with this bag is the gray fabric between the back padding and the shoulder straps. It has this single piece of fabric that goes across the back that connects the two straps together and then to the back padding. If you like to keep your backpack high on your back (best position for carrying weight for distances w/out pain), then you will notice this fabric piece immediately. It digs into your neck/spine and makes the pack incredibly uncomfortable. I have to loosen the straps and keep this backpack lower on my back then I'd like just so I don't have the weight of the entire pack digging into the center of my neck/spine on this piece of fabric. I will try to attach some pictures of what I'm talking about - I didn't see many other reviewers with this problem which makes me think most people ride with a pack loose and low on their back for some reason. I'm a long distance backpacker/hiker so I guess I'm funny about where my pack is positioned. NOTE: I've had two other laptop bags, one being another targus, and neither have had this design flaw. All in all it was a fairly average backpack. It had plenty of storage for my needs, good compartmentalized areas, good water bottle holder, and it's one of 5 laptop bags I could find that actually fit the G74SX! However it was lacking in padding for the laptop (especially on the sides and corners - the place most likely to take some heavy impact), it was very bland design/looking, and the shoulder/neck strap flaw is horrible. ... show more

  • This is my first Targus backpack...
I bought it initially because the backpack that I had before this one, I had for years; and it was just getting worn out. I have yet to really use this for a main purpose that I got it; I got it because I will be flying soon and I need to pack things in it while I'm away for a while. I haven't done packing yet, but it does seem large enough for my needs of it. Overall, it seems very sturdy also. I do have one question though; Amazon wasn't too specific on the location of this. In the details it says that there are reflective surfaces on it. Will anyone tell me where exactly those surfaces are? I will be going somewhere that does not have any bike paths, and it would be nice to know where the reflective surfaces are. Thank you. ... show more

  • Very big and comfortable bag with 1 thing I'm not happy about
This bag is great overall. It fits my ASUS G73JH without any issue, gaiters, poncho, power brick, tablet as well as my folder and book with a little room to spare. Only thing I'm unhappy with is the length of the strap. Its too short, at the end of the strap, I can barely put the bag on my back. I'm currently looking at strap extensions so I can at least have some space for my back to breathe. Though its probably not ergonomically good for the back if its too low, this is just too close for comfort as I perspire a lot. ... show more

  • Fits my G74Sx. Though I will never get the bungee cord pocket.
The back pack is great just wish the bungee cord pocket was a real pocket. Don't really have any thing to use it for. UPDATE: Well after a little over a year the Bag is giving out. the seams at the top of the bag that connect to the side panels have popped. Instead of pursuing another low-end bag, I have decided to go with a high end bag and have ordered a Titan EKP120 directly from Everki, as it comes with a lifetime warranty. ... show more

  • EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
I just picked this up at Fry's today and this is PERFECT. I was looking for something that I can keep all my electronic goodies in. Here is what I can fit in it: 1) Toshiba Qosmio (17.3 screen) & it's huge power plug 2) Ipad in it's leather "bookstlye" case & it's power plug 3) Small can of air duster, small bottle of screen cleaner spray, detail brush & screen cloth 4) 1TB portable memory storage & both of it's plugs. And I still have alot of room left for more items too. THIS THING IS MORE THAN PERFECT!!! I'm sure I can even fit a small book of disc's in here too. There is room for your Ipod & you can run your headphone's thru a small access hole. And you can fit files in here and 2 or 3 textbooks (depending on the thickness). Oh, by the way, Amazon's price is better than Fry's. I paid $69.99 + tax. ... show more

  • Great Bag -- don't listen to the naysayers
I did a lot of research before getting this bag. The research paid off. Large back with enough room for daily workout clothes, books, and laptop -- at the same time! Nice looking, very well built, has held up to a lot of abuse for two years. Only problem has been the zipper pulls, but they sent me replacements for free. Great/prompt customer service via chat on the internet. Two other people have bought this bag after I've showed it to them. I will certainly buy more from Targus. ... show more
