This thing is amazing. Our fish tank was murky, starting to get stuff on the glass, I installed this, removed the yellow sponge insert, turned it on full time, within 24 hours there was a noticeable difference, few days later, maybe 4-5, tank is spotless. Bought this to clean my water to avoid algea. Within 12 hours, one fish died. I took it completely out of the tank, two more within 12 hours and 2 more shortly after. The ONLY thing that changed was that I put this contraption in my tank. It was a stable flourishing tank before this and now I'm dreading the next 24 hours waiting for the rest of them to die. Yes, I tested my water and everything was in the normal range including my temperature. Regretting this purchase! Update: All 12 fish died including and very hardy 4 year old pleco.     • Although it’s promoted to remove green water, it also removes bacteria blooms ( white cloudy water).

So far, so good. I worked hard to balance my water. Even after removing my filter to restart and replace water - after a while the cloudy water would still not go away. Once I put this particular UV light in the tank, after about 3 days, it all cleared out. Now it’s beyond crystal clear and I run it only for 3 hours. The timer function is pretty nice. When I add water after evaporation, I set it for 6 hours for a few days, then turn it back to 3 hours. ... show more

I recently set up a 20 gallon aquarium in my greenhouse. I use native plants from the canal. Unfortunately some of the plants I collected brought in algae. It went wild! I prefer to not filter the water and only use a bubbler normally. I bought this for the UV killing properties. I removed the foam filter and set the variable timer on the light for six hours. I’M IMPRESSED! It has taken almost two weeks but the water is reasonably clear. You can actually see through all the way thru the aquarium. The water will never be clear, that’s not the nature of the aquarium, but the algae has cleared and continues to do so. Which I s what I wanted. After all, it’s a PLANT AQUARIUM, the mosquito fish are just there to control the mosquitos. A good product. I’m pleased. ... show more

I bought this unit to see if it can clear my 40gl breeder tank that I have 4 African claw frogs in, they really get the water cloudy because they are eating machines, so I set this up the next day I took a double take ,I didn't believe how much better the water looked and this was only over night I set the UV for 6 hours, the next day the water was so clear I can see were all the frogs are in the tank, it was amazing how fast it cleared the water , I took out the sponge for the first week ,,,,, I'm going to buy another one for my other 40 gl tank ... show more
