  • What a deal, what a computer
Color: Blue
Just received the new Tanoshi Scholar. It arrived earlier than what Amazon said it would! It's a gift for my nephew and it's the upgrade from the first Tanoshi 2-and-1. I opened it up and started setting it up, as an adult has to set it up, before handing it to the kid/child. This one, the Scholar feels well built. It's heavier, but it feels solid and rugged. It's still lighter than my work laptop. You can't beat the price for a computer that is designed for a kid. The set up was easy; just follow the Quick Start Guide. The buttons are a bit harder to push, like the power and volume. I can see this Scholar is a rugged computer that looks like it could handle some bumps. A big selling point is the parental controls that are free for life. I played around with the parental control app; I liked the easy to use and pre set features. It is pretty cool that the parent has the ability to monitor and turn off the Scholar, from the parent's mobile, whether it is an Android or iPhone. The child has to get permission to download an app from the Google Play Store. During these times, the Scholar is perfect for remote learning. The Scholar has Google apps and preloaded coding and learning apps. I am sure my nephew will enjoy getting this Scholar computer for his schoolwork and for his own learning fun. ... show more

  • Very kid friendly
Color: Blue
Pros - Keyboard the right size for her little hands. Strong magnetic connection between the tablet and keyboard. - It’s an Android tablet. Functions a lot like my phone. - Apps installed seem mostly educational and age appropriate. No bloatware that I have noticed. - The free parental controls are great, and very easy to setup. Included in the box was a step-by-step setup guide. Cons - A little slower than I would have liked. Probably OK for my daughter, but too slow for me. - It’s a little heavy. However it does feel durable. We will see. - Like others have said, the charging seems a little slow. - Volume and power buttons are a bit stiff feeling. - In summary, this is not a premium product. However it includes a lot of things I really like, and my daughter loves her first real computer. ... show more

  • Dont buy this
Color: Purple
I ordered 2 of these. 1 for each of my kids to use mostly for online classes. They haven't been able to use them because the laptops are pretty much unusable. I attempted setup on the first one only to have it continually power off (even after charging it for several hours). I thought maybe it wasn't charging correctly so tried with 2 other chargers only to not have the problem resolve itself. It wouldn't stay on. In the meantime I had started to set up the other laptop not realizing yet that the first wasn't going to work. So I started up the second one after charging it overnight. Initially it seemed like it might be fine. It showed the battery was completely full. I tried for about 20 minutes to get the family link to set up. It kept gliching and sending me back to the previous screen. In that 20 minutes the battery dropped to 70 percent. I was still unable to get it to set up. I decided to just not use the family link and try to set it up another way. I also restarted it. The whole time the battery was quickly dropping. These laptops are trash. I do not understand the good reviews. I ordered 2 and you would think if they were worth anything at all that at least one of them would work. Nope. Hopefully I don't have an issue with getting a full refund. Im also concerned because some of my daughters set up info is on the one computer and Im unsure how to factory reset it. Take my work for it you can find much, much better for the money. I would also mention the laptop has a weird weight to it. It is heavy for a kids laptop and its size. Way to small for a teenager or adult to use in that way and it doesn't sit up straight because it is so top heavy. ... show more

  • Good Price; Bad Product (Don’t Do It!)
Color: Purple
This product worked great for 60 days (i.e. the return window). After that, it wouldn’t charge and won’t turn on. The concept is great for a kid to be introduced into safely using a laptop, but the quality of this product is ultimately very poor. I gave one star for the price point and one star for the durability (i.e. won’t break with rough kid usage). However, I reduced one star for battery life, I reduced one star for overall quality, and I reduced one star for ease of use. I would never suggest someone purchase this item and now that I need to purchase a replacement laptop for my kid, I will certainly not be replacing with the same brand. There are so many adjustments and upgrades needed before this product is back on my shopping list; I’m certain my young child will be starting a family of their own by the time this brand gets things sorted out (that’s if they are still hanging on by that time). Think twice before you get sucked in by the great price point! ... show more

  • Very durable and the insurance you get with it is amazing!
Color: Purple
Very durable and the insurance you get with it is amazing! My granddaughter has had this for 2 years now. Recently we had to use the insurance. They were easy to use and very fast. They ended up not able to fix it. We got a Amazon gift card and bought this with the insurance again.

  • Regretfully it broke within a week
Color: Blue
My son got this computer for his tenth birthday. He really loved it... For a week. Then regretfully his sister tickled him while he was on the couch. He dropped it from the couch to the floor and the touchscreen broke. I can't say it is poor quality. Maybe it just landed in a way that would've broke any laptop. But I can't give it five star reviews either unfortunately due to our only experience being this unfortunate one. I took it to a pc shop to fix it and they said it's $300 to replace the screen. More than the computer itself. So my son will be waiting for another birthday it seems. Super cool platform though and tons of activities built in. ... show more
