  • Great scale very easy to setup in the app
This thing really tells you alot and gives you alot to think about

  • Two thumbs up, 5 star product!
I know this scale is expensive, but truly worth the price tag if you would like full and accurate insight of your body composition. My wife and I feel it’s worth the money and we’re both enjoying every feature of the scale and app. I don’t write reviews often, but felt it was necessary because the only review for this product is a one star review, which almost deterred me from making the purchase. I’m glad I did more research and selected the Tanita RD-545pro. We had the Qardio Base prior to purchasing this one which was very inconsistent and a frustrating scale. It doesn’t even come close to competing with the Tanita scale. ... show more

  • Very accurate readings!
A bit pricey but well worth the money for the full segmental accuracy.

  • Great Hardware but woefully inadequate software support
Needs a "STEM" high school class to develop some decent software.

  • App is junk
Love the scale itself but I am not sure how to rate it free of the app necessary for it use. The app is one of the worst I have ever used and my wife is about ready to toss the whole thing out due to connection issues. In my case the app sometimes will not show all the data, just weight. I have to shut down the app and restart to get it to show all the data. My wife's phone says it is connected to the scale but says there is no data available despite just weighing herself and the scale indicating she is the user being weighed. Not sure what to do about that one yet but we are still in the beginning phase trying to make it all work. There is simply too much data to just use it free of the app and if all one wants is weight there are much cheaper scales that are just as good. Our old scale used wifi and our app connected to the internet to get data. Really wish this scale did that so we did not have to try to sink directly with the scale and deal with these connection nightmares. The Apple App store has a 2 out of 5 rating on the app. I think that high. Note: For the last year or so I have been trying to get the app to connect to my phone every once in a while. Despite following advice of Tanita I have only used the on-scale metrics. The app won't connect. Absolute waste of money, the app is simply puzzling in its current form although I must admit I can't really use it but I am not even sure how I would update the scale readings. It certainly does not present an easy way to transfer scale readings to the phone. I certainly will never get a Tanita scale again. So far the scale seems accurate from one use to another. As far as its accuracy I am not entirely sure but honestly don't care for the most part. My weight shows pretty close to my previous scale. I am more interested in trends. If my actual weight or body fat is a few points off I don't care for the most part as long as I can count on the trends. That said, this scale has users put in where they live so the scale can compensate for different gravities in different places on earth. I do like the athletic mode to the scale. I am pretty muscular and work out a lot. Caliper tests show me to be about 8% less body fat than most impedance scales. This one is pretty close to calipers. My guess is the greater accuracy is not just due to the athletic mode. The hand unit adds to the accuracy. The way impedance works just using hands or feet will not likely lead to very accurate results and show trends that only apply to part of the body. For me the data is too rich. I really don't care much, nor understand, all the data presented on different parts of the body. Not sure I care that my right arm is measured to be 1% body fat and are "under". Have not even figured out what that means yet. My guess is it means I should have more fat on my arms. Wish I could transfer some visceral fat. Not sure how impedance tells of muscle quality. Guessing it does not really. I'm happy my metabolic age is 30 years younger than I am but again Im pretty sure impedance can tell us little about metabolic age. There are some good lab tests for that. Of course it is easy to just ignore the data that is not useful to you. All in all I recommend the scale. Perhaps in time we will get it all figured out and the app won't be such a nightmare. If my research is correct the competition is not very good at this price point and with these features. Pricey but if the features are important to you there does not seem to be much competition. ... show more

  • Changed My Life
Have had this scale for over 6 months now, in this time it helped me stay motivated and gain 6kg of muscle and lose several of fat among other metrics that have improved. I never had all the issues some here reported regarding using the app or connecting it to the scale... It is true though that I struggled to understand the app at first, but after a couple days I got a hang of it and am now unable to live without it. I love seeing my progress on it which has been steady since I bought it. I actually bought mine in Amazon.de and use it in Italy where I live. I am now on Amazon.com considering getting a second scale this time for my mom. Another complaint I saw here among the reviews is that the results are inconsistent. For me it's the exact opposite, they're very consistent and in line with my expectations. If you're minimally disciplined and take your measurements like I do after waking up and having a bowl movement, take off all your clothes and step on the scale, the results will be quite consistent. If you do eat or just have a glass of water and step on the scale again you will most definitely get different results and it should be expected. Also if you take the results at different times of the day, sometimes before sometimes after a bowl movement you can expect a lot more noise on your results, again to be expected... Take a look at my before and after (no body pics sorry), these are the screenshots of the app when I first started using it and after 6 months of more or less regular gym going. The scale was a big part of my motivation so I'd say it was well worth the investiment. ... show more

  • Little More Accurate than Cheaper Scales
The bells and whistles are fun, and it gives you the illusion of in-depth, fancy measuring as it beeps and whirs through analyzing this body part and that, but it appears to just take your weight, compare it to the last weight and then scale up or down your muscle mass and body fat accordingly. I could have done that with an analog scale. Well, mostly. I'm sure it accounts for water weight to some extent, but the error margins are just too large to yield conclusive results, in my opinion. My Omron scale that is about a tenth the price gives similar results. I feel for Tanita -- it's a tough problem, but the truth is, they didn't solve it. ... show more
