First note, the device came out of the box with scratches already on the screen. Thankfully, I had an extra pix screen protector on hand. Otherwise, the shell is really cute! The transparent back is wonderful, and I like that this generation is for more 'active' people. I'm a little bummed they decided to make the pcb completely white and unlabeled, as this may make it more difficult to repair in the future. I like all of the new game play features, but am disappointed by the connectivity utilization. Unlike the pix where you could have playdates with people around the world, the uni is limited to needing two devices present or simply watching other players appear with little interaction in the tamaverse. There's also no Bluetooth utilization even though there could be. Some of the online features are not available yet, even though the device has been released, with the timeline for updates being, "coming soon!" For $60, I wish there was more characters, more items, and that all of the online features worked right out of the box. I think there's a lot of potential for this device, and hopefully the wifi compatability will allow bandai to send out lots of quality of life updates in the near future! ... show more

I have to say, this is probably the best Tamagotchi yet! I got my first Tamagotchi back in 1997, and over the years have gotten several different versions. As I grew up, I lost a few of them but I have always purchased them throughout my kid through adult life. After 26 years of having different Tamagotchis, I found that I do have a few favorites. What is different about this release is the Tamaverse! This is such a wonderful way to connect to everybody all over the world. I am also glad that we now have physical buttons again, I love the tactile touch! And I am so happy that the batteries are rechargeable! There is a USB-C port for easy charging with a 5v charger. Set up a super easy, I was able to connect to Wi-Fi with no issues at all. Another great plus is that they have mini tutorials in the beginning. For instance when the egg hatched, my Tamagotchi was hungry. There is a little pointing finger that shows you where to go for each first action which is great if you are new to Tamagotchi. Some of the features are the same as prior versions with of course some of the newer online actions. Of course I am happily learning as I play. Overall, I highly recommend this Tamagotchi Uni! This definitely is a new experience for me as far as gameplay goes. I have also included several photos so you can see the size comparison of this Tamagotchi versus some other ones. I want to say that it is close to the size of the earlier generation Tamagotchi. Just get this, you will absolutely love it! ... show more

I’m not too sure how to explain it better than I did in the Title. This is probably the best Tamagotchi released yet. (excluding the TamagotchiSmart because it didn’t come with an English format) The Uni is exactly what it stands for. It’s so universal and the quality of the device is amazing. The sound isn’t so loud it’s distorted and the wrist band is big enough for adults with larger wrists. It’s rechargeable, it connects to wifi, it’s artisticly beautiful, and it can be set to automatically update. I mean, this type of technology in this toy is so far beyond the past releases and I’m so excited to play it and get more familiar with the Tamaverse. Thank you Amazon for a speedy and quality deliver and thank you Bandai for taking care of the English speaking population who loves Tamagotchis’ as well. ... show more

My boyfriend bought both colors for me on release day and within a day, Amazon delivered it right to my door! The Uni has so many more features than the other Tamagotchi releases and you can even connect your device to wifi and connect with other Uni players too (I believe, but I haven't tested this out yet). Overall, it's definitely worth the $60 and it is rechargeable with usb-c cable! UPDATE: I connected my Uni locally, but I don't think you can connect with other users that aren't local (bummer, I hope they update this soon in settings) however, you still can marry your Tama off at TamaParty when they're adults. You can take your Tama on walks and collect materials at the end to craft DIY stuff. You can also get a pet there when you place furniture outside in your garden! So many features are included in the Uni so it's better off if you explore it yourself! Good luck and have fun! :)) ... show more
