Once we had the shower insert installed, our contractor suggested we find bars that suction to the wall of the shower instead of putting the old ones back in - having to drill holes to install them. I normally do not purchase items with so few ratings. However, after reading the description and the price as well as knowing if they are not what they say I can return them through Amazon. I am extremely satisfied with these. I like the feel of the handle, easy to drip and to hold onto. Quick and easy to install, solid attachment, no wiggle. Extremely sturdy, I weigh 220 lbs. and after attaching to my shower wall I pulled them, tried to shake them, pulled down on them, very sturdy. Yes, I would recommend these. Just make sure before buying you know they will not stick to painted walls, in the description it clearly tells you what surface they can be used on. Make sure the surface is cleaned and dried before installing. Followup, after having these up for a few weeks I went to relocate one of them. It is true what they say, the longer they are up the stronger they become. This is exactly what happened. It is nice to know if I fall and grab on, it is not going to pull off. I am a 220 lbs. man, Again, I highly recommend, and make sure they are where you want them, moving them later will be a little challenging. ... show more

To date, I've bought 3 of them. They're easy to install ,and if you later feel as though you want another position, they're movable. My only advice would be to check all the measurements, because you cannot use it over a crack, seam, or too narrow of a surface.

My shower wall is covered in smooth marble tile squares measuring 6x6 inches. This should be an ideal situation for these suction hand grips. Unfortunately, my hand grips fall off the wall after about 5 minutes. I have tried washing and drying the wall, but the grips still do not stick. I don't know why they won't work for me when so many others have reported successful installment. Maybe I received defective grips. My wife and I are getting a little older and are becoming more mindful of the possibility of falls. A neighbor of ours had a fall in the shower which was our motivation to get a safety handrail for our shower. I am a big DIYer and immediately started thinking about the easiest way to drill through the tile in our shower to attach a safety rail, and how I would seal it properly to ensure water didn't seep into the walls. I was aware of the suction type of safety rails but didn't think that they would be as sturdy as a rail that was screwed into the wall. Well, I was wrong. This grab bar has two suction cups that are incredibly powerful and firmly attach this grab bar to the wall. The surface of each suction cup comes with a slightly sticky coating which holds the bar in place as you position it, and then you push the levers down to (very) firmly attach the grab bar to the wall. There are two levers to push to engage the suction cups which help ensure they are fully attached. Once the levers are pushed, the installation is complete. Water in the shower does not impact the seal as the levers that engage the suction cups are watertight. The only caution (as noted in the seller's description) is that the surface that you are attaching the bar to must be smooth and non-porous. This bar will not work safely on any sort of textured tile. The other bonus is that this bar is relatively compact and lightweight and would be suitable for travel as it is easy to attach/remove.
