I've never had Tahitian Vanilla before. I love vanilla so I bought this one. I'm glad I did. It smells like vanilla, Carmel and a hint of cream! I love this oil and I have hundreds of fragrance oils. This one is one of my favorites. I run 4 diffusers 24/7. Some scents last longer than others. When I can't smell it anymore I just add a couple of drops to the top of my diffuser. It's pretty strong!     • Quite syrupy but a good fragrance enhancer
This scent is very strong and for some, it can be quite nauseating. However I purchased a vanilla body mist that needed more fragrance and a few drops of this and it was perfect. I originally purchased for body butters and candles but I didn’t like it for those. I am glad I for a better use for it I think I look for more of a warm vanilla sugar type fragrance ... show more

My son has started using a diffuser in his room and has specifically asked for vanilla. Tonight he brought this in and had me smell it and then said "I wasn't sure I'd like it when I first smelled it because it smells like a sugar cookie but oh my gosh my room smells great". So off we all trooped to smell his room and it does. I think if you open this bottle and take a good whiff of the smell it will be sweet and a little bit not vanilla-y. (How do you describe a smell?) However , if you use it along with something else or you diffuse it, the smell is lovely. It does not smell like vanilla you get from the grocery store to use in your baking though if that is what you are looking for. ... show more

    • Potent (good), sickeningly sweet (probably bad?)
Used in warmers and diffusers, so if you're making candles or something different I don't know how my experience impacts you. This stuff is potent, a drop or two without even trying to diffuse the scent it to the air is able to fill up my office (and is even hard to wash off skin). It arrived undamaged and not leaking. The scent resembles vanilla but is cloyingly sweet. I wasn't too crazy about it but had no idea what to do with the rest of the bottle so tried less, blending, etc but never could get it right with this one. The first day I used it three separate employees let me know how awful they thought it was (there were 0 good reviews). In my use case, it wasn't a hit... MAYBE 2 stars. However, I see most people here buying this are making soaps or other items and I have no idea how the profile may change when mixed into something like that. Hopefully it does. I bought a few nicely named fragrances like "honey" and "banana" and only this one is genuinely vanilla and not some half-chemical pungent yuk. This one is so good you can put it in your food (not that I tried). We add it into home-made candles and it gives a subtle, gentle but unmistakenly sweet-vanilla aroma. ... show more
