I'm using it right now! Exactly like the one T-Mobile sent me! It has an extremely sensitive radio and it's fast! In fact, Nokia named it the Fast Mile. I call it the Fast Smile. Now, if something happens the original, I won't owe T-Mobile $300! They're lucky I'm a good guy, 'cause some realtor left their WiFi password on some of the channels. This thing has been working like a champ - just like the one T-Mobile sent me - for months now. This one was in the original box with all the original accessories, BTW. I just had to move the SIM over. And it took it a couple days for it to get used to the cell tower and find the best channels. I looked these things up about a year ago and new (with A LOT more features than T-mobile gives you in their version!!), it was about $1200! ... show more

    • Not possible to activate new service on device purchased elsewhere
Just called T-Mobile to get service activated for this device. Surprise, they flat out won't give you new service on a home internet device that's not purchased directly from them. This seems to *not* apply for hot spots, but this Home Internet Gateway is not possible. I'm not sure why it's even sold on Amazon. ... show more

    • Had to return but it was due to my error.
Ordered a T-Mobile gateway but found out the next day, I ordered the wrong one. I tried to cancel but it had already been processed and the carrier had picked it up. I processed a refund after it arrived and everything went smoothly. I went ahead and opened the box to take a quick look at it. The unit looked brand new in a T-Mobile factory box that also looked brand new. I'm giving the 5 stars because of the easy return process and the visual quality of the refurbished gateway, not a single blemish. ... show more

    • great replacement for hot spot, really works
On the road traveling in RV, I had a tmobile 5g hot spot that died, but I was still under two year contract. found this and switched the sim card. now I get 10-15 times better signal and bandwidth using 5g.

Been using the T-Mobile Home Internet for around two years (as of the writing of this review) and been very happy with the service. The few ratings for the T-Mobile Home Internet that are low are probably due to the location of the router. Once the time is spent to find the best location, speeds are good. I routinely get the below speeds with the external antenna kit (https://amzn.to/49u4tln). VPN Enabled: 225+ meg down / 90+ meg up VPN Disabled: 350+ meg down / 50+ meg up (with external antenna kit). (Attached screenshots of speed tests from Speedtest.net) Before the external antenna kit, I was getting around 50 down and 10 up (still not bad - even for gaming and video streaming). Definitely recommend getting the external antenna kit as it really does increase speeds. ... show more

    • Kept dropping Wi-Fi devices
I got this product free as part of the deal when I signed up for T-Mobile wireless home internet, but I have to give it back if I cancel my service. So if you bought one somewhere else - not through T-Mobile with a service plan - I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work. Anyway, I’m in a medium sized city. Setting it up was easy and it showed 3 out of 5 bars on 5G, but some of my Wi-Fi devices kept getting dropped despite seeing a strong Wi-Fi signal, requiring me to constantly manually reconnect them. If a device could stay connected, performance was fine. I have about ten devices typically connected, not sure why it decided that certain ones weren’t worth keeping connected - my net gear router with cable internet didn’t have this problem. Also even though it has a built in battery backup, whenever I unplugged the power cord it rebooted and disconnected everything until it came back online on battery power a minute or two later, which really reduces the usefulness of having a battery in the first place! Anyway I’m going to return this thing and stick with cable internet for now. ... show more
