  • 800 Watts of Security In The Pond
There are many positives to the 800 Watt version of this heater used in my pond. It could not be easier to operate, the external digital thermometer is accurate, and the design of the heating tube makes it safe for the stock in the pond, while reducing the chance of accidental breakage. The cord is pleasingly long, and the external illuminated control panel is very nice. After two cold nights this device has done its job by keeping my pond at a safe 69F minimum temperature. My setup is a 280 gallon pond inside of a greenhouse. There is a 500 W heater in the tertiary filter portion which set at desired 72F, and the 800 W heater is in the pond itself set at 69 F as a fail safe temperature. The number one complain I read on regarding a heater is when it fails there is dead stock from either hypothermia or being cooked to death. Take a hint from someone doing tropical fish longer than most of you have been alive; never rely on on one heater! It is the total watts which heats a tank, not the watts in one heater; divide the required watts among two heaters with a slight overlap between them. This saves the valuable stock in your tank; why cheep out an put your trust in one big heater? The way I am advising you to setup ensurers one heater cannot over heat a tank and that there is always some heat being added to the tank. For clarification. In an indoor tank I would normally set both heaters at the same temperature. In my case there are pumps, fans and heaters sharing a 20 W circuit, so I set one heater at a desired temperature and the other a few degrees cooler to cut back on the average power draw. ... show more

  • Nice heater. Only lasted just over a year.
Heater was nice, but only lasted a year. Luckily it didn’t kill the $400 worth of fish I have. And luckily I had a back up heater

  • 2 out of 3 are good to go!
Pattern Name: 500W (for 79-120 gallon tank)
So I purchased 3 of these heaters, 2x 500w and 1x 300w. All worked well until 1 of the 500w heaters now only displays an H and no longer heats. I tried to exchange the heater which at the time of purchase (about a month ago) was around $35. Well they will not exchange the heater which would be my normal choice. So now instead of paying the original price of ~$35, I must return the heater with UPS and then re-purchase for the new price of ~$45. This is to me a scam way of getting more money out of me rather than giving me a replacement which would save me the extra $10. Since this is the case, I will purchase from another brand which does honor their replacement policy, sorry. ... show more

  • I would give 5 stars but there are a few problems.
Pattern Name: 300W (for 26-79 gallon tank)
The suction pieces didn’t stay on the heating device. Also the heater gave me some troubles at first and kept giving me a low water code even after I filled the tank. It eventually fixed its self.

  • Junk
Pattern Name: 300W (for 26-79 gallon tank)
I would give this 0 stars but there isn’t one for me to choose. Worked great for about six months. Then the display was reading in the 80’s but the heater was not on. So I started trying to cool my tank down by doing water changes. Temp would then read in the mid to upper 70’s. Only for it to climb right back up. Finally put my old thermometer in the tank to find tank temperature was correct at 74deg. Took this POCrap out and put my old heater back in. Will be looking for a reliable replacement. Btw what ever happened to one year warranties? I’m sure they won’t even pick up the phone. ... show more

  • Ugh
Pattern Name: 100W (for 5-26 gallon tank)
So far this heater is functioning properly. My complaint is the cage on the outside of the heater is HUGE. It is so heavy the suction cups will not even hold it into the side of the tank. The external thermostat has doubled sided tape on the back which stayed stuck to a mirror on the wall behind the tank for 2 days then wouldn't stay stuck anymore. The thermostat is also very loud when it kicks on and off. The temp drops almost 2 degrees before it will kick on. I can't handle this thing anymore. Different heater is out for delivery today. ... show more
