Tip:7 To be honest I bought this because I wanted a white mouthpiece. LOL. Anyway, I recommend it for an intermediate or advanced player who can add subtle control with the embouchure. I tried MANY reeds and found that I liked the sound/play-ability with VD green JAVA 2.5 to work best for me. This combination gave me the warm sub-tones in low notes as well as power in the upper range when pushed. I like the open chamber and moderate baffle as well. I tried it with my other tenor, a vintage Conn, and found I needed a slightly harder reed but the sound was even more powerful. ... show more

Super solid mouthpiece. It has a great core to it. It can be either dark or bright depending on your set up, but overally in either category. Great for big band or singer songwriter type gigs

I like this mouthpiece, but there is a problem with it. Reeds don’t sit right, chirping and squeaks. I’ve been playing for over 40 years; I don’t have these problems with my other mouthpieces ( Otto Link, Berg Larsen, Brilhart, Vandoren, Selmer). My Rico Metalite plays better. A sales rep said they would send me a new one, but it has been a few weeks; I haven’t received it, haven’t heard from the company. It’s been a week since I wrote the review above. I still haven’t heard from SYOS ; I have not received the replacement that I was promised. ... show more

I was really surprised by the ease-of-playing of this mouthpiece. I really like how flexible it is. I can have a really nice dark sound when I play soft and if I push it more it really reacts fast and has a lot of power! HIghly recommend.

I have been playing the saxophone for over 30 years. I have bought many mouthpieces, and this SYOS mouthpiece is one of the best I have ever played on. It is easy blowing and produces a sound I like without much effort. And the price is one of the best available for a pro-level mouthpiece.
