  • Great!
Size: 6 (.080")
I tried a LOT of jazz alto mouthpieces and finally found this and love it. I'm getting my master's in jazz - usually a tenor player but got more into alto this year. I really tried at least 20 mouthpieces and loved this one. Works great for lead playing but also has great control of dynamics (so it's not only a lead mouth piece). ... show more

  • Bright tone with good projection
Size: 7 (.086")
I play a Jody Jazz Jet 7 with a pop cover band. I can get the projection I need to cut through absurdly loud drums and guitar. Altissimo is easily achieved, but I wouldn’t say it’s as easy as as the adds make it sound. I wouldn’t say that my range is any better or easier than when I played on a Jody HR 6M or Meyer HR 6M. It has a pretty bright sound, but not as bright as the metal mouthpieces coming out of Jody Jazz or Theo Wayne right now. There is still enough control that I would feel fine to play lead with this in a big band. I think it would be a little hard for younger players to handle though. I would still push them towards the HR models. Hope that helps! ... show more

  • Great mouthpiece for richer tone
Size: 6 (.080")
I have played a Meyer M6 mouthpiece for many years and get a great dark tone from it, but have always felt that I would like a richer, fuller tone for the jazz and blues I play. I did a lot of research and think this is the best value for a high-end mouthpiece. Here are my first impressions after playing it for awhile. Loud -- yes, I expected that, but did all my testing in front of my tuner and had no problem playing very pianissimo while sustaining quiet notes and maintaining proper tuning. I found it easy to control my dynamic range on it. Rich sound -- yes, I had recorded a sample of my playing on my Meyer, then recorded the same thing with the Jody Jazz Jet. The difference was exactly what I had hoped for. My wife heard me testing it out and commented how much better she likes my new tone. I'm sure it will take a few weeks (or months) to fully realize the best ways to use this mouthpiece over my repertoire, but was surprised to find that I had no problem adjusting to it. Lowest notes are great as are highest notes. I had expected to have to work on some of them, but found no problems anywhere up and down the horn's range. ... show more

  • A bunch of hype
Size: 5 (.074")
I purchased this Jody Jazz mouthpiece for my alto sax. If you look on line, the ads and reviews are carefully orchestrated hype. The product does not live up to the hype. It is a loud mouthpiece but not amenable to quiet playing. It is difficult to control.....lots of squeaking. I tried different reed strengths. I found it worked best with a softer reed but it still did not work overall as well as my 50 year old Couf Artist or my Selmer S80. I returned it. If it is too good to be true...... ... show more

  • Good
Size: 5 (.074")
Everything I hoped for. Responsive, and powerful mouthpiece. Projects effortlessly. You definitely notice the high baffle / small chamber combo, while still retaining rich lows. Fyi: this mouthpiece isn’t supposed to come with a ligature, as listed on the manufacturer website.

  • I have played on a Beechler Bellite for the better part of ten years
Size: 7 (.086")
I've been a saxophonist for 18 years, and in that time, I've tried a myriad of mouthpieces. I have played on a Beechler Bellite for the better part of ten years, and it has served me well; I have no complaints. I first saw the Jody Jazz Jet in a short video posted by a gentleman on Facebook, and the tone was outstanding. Since switching to the Jet, I have received many compliments on my tone. In short, this is the best mouthpiece I have ever used. It has the playability of a hard rubber mouthpiece with the brightness and projection of a metal mouthpiece. The response is incredible, and I'm hitting altissimo notes easier and clearer than ever before. I've found I get the best tone out of a Vandoren Java Red #3, but that's also relative. For the price, this mouthpiece holds up to those twice the cost. ... show more

  • Great mouthpiece
Size: 7 (.086")
I love this mouthpiece. It really screams. It can take some getting used to if you're not used to this type of mouthpiece. If you don't like it at first give it time. The only thing I don't like so much is the ligature that came with it. The reed doesn't seal against the mouthpiece as well as I'd like it to. New reeds could potentially fix this problem. If it does I'll give it five stars. ... show more
