  • Works great in Synology DS1821+
Purchased a pair of these to upgrade the RAM in a Synology DS1821+. These are working as advertised, and as they are on Synology's supported device list for the model I know they will not cause warranty issues should something happen later.

  • Real Synology RAM
People leave negative reviews on here due to the price tag. I get it. You CAN buy cheaper RAM. However, doing so voids your Synology Warranty. They don't hide that. If you don't like the price of their RAM, then either don't buy a Synology or go into that purchase knowing you plan to void the warranty. Don't come leave a negative review because you don't like the price. The product arrived exactly as advertised: Real, legitimate (see photo) Synology RAM. Maybe the other reviewer purchased from someone else, I'm really not sure. Installation is a breeze. I put this into my new DS 1621+ by moving the original 4G Stick to Bank B and installing the new 16G Stick into Bank A. Booted right up without any issues and a cool 20G of RAM in the system now. ... show more

  • Essential upgrade for your Synology series NAS
I used 2 * DDR4-2666 ECC SO-DIMM 16GB along the 16GB that came with the Synology NAS (for a total of 48GB). I have DS3617XS, 12 bay NAS, which achieves higher HDD configurations due to this upgrade; you can use 16TB/18TB HDD drives on all its 12 bays.

  • U.S. Federal Law Prohibits Abusive Policies Like those of Synology
Non-Synology memory does not void your warranty in the United States. Please see the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act enacted in 1975. If anyone from this or any other company refuses you warranty service because you are not using their over-priced OEM parts, please file a report with the FTC immediately. Additionally, statements on their website and in product manuals, literature etc. that even imply this is the case should be reported to the FTC. It only takes a few minutes to file a complaint. Many US states also have laws on the books to prohibit this type of abusive behavior. Take a minute and file a complaint or make a phone call - protect your rights folks. ... show more

  • No I never bought this product but the price is terrible
I don't want to recommend that someone voids the warranty on their new NAS, but you could buy 64GB of RAM for less than the price of this one stick of 16GB. Even if you had a $10,000 Rackmount station I would say get the cheap knockoff ram!!! In that case, why you are looking at a 16GB stick makes me question your sanity. But I am not one to judge; unless if is for overpriced crap like this. Sure, your data might be 002% less secure because of some super amazing safety feature that Synology is saying cost $300. I am saying that that is a stretch. ... show more

  • It's foolish to buy this
No, I didn't buy this, and I won't - it's no different than the cheaper Arch Memory Ram, other than it has the "Synology" sticker on it, and it commands a higher price for that sticker. I am about 99.9% certain it has the same exact electrical specs, and very likely is made by the same vendor overseas. How do I know? I've been in IT for over 35yrs - before it was even called IT - I've worked for three (3) well known hardware companies in the U.S., and I know what all did with their own branded memory, HBA cards, GBICs/SFP's etc. - it's a common practice in the industry to rebrand something as your "own" and then double the price. If you're worried about "voiding the warranty", just hang onto the factory-installed 4G DIMM and put it back in before calling support. However, I just about bet you my bottom dollar that a Synology support tech won't bother with trying to verify that all parts are "Synology" - that's going to be one of the last things they do if they "hit a wall" everywhere else in trying to troubleshoot an issue. ... show more

  • Way over priced
Do not buy for this price of $400

  • Good RAM that retains warranty and support from Synology
Got the SODIMM on time, and it appears to be genuine Synology, so my warranty is valid. Loading my NAS up with photos and video and RAM isn't ever maxxed out, as expected. Easy normal install. Synology-brand components are more expensive than other brands but, like I said, it keeps me with a supported configuration should I ever have an issue. Good seller, good packaging, quick delivery. Yeah, I'd buy from this seller again. ... show more
