  • Very useful, lightweight guillotine paper cutter
I have had this cutter for some months now and am very pleased at how well it works. Lightweight - easy to handle and move from place to place. Easy to store. Price - suits my budget SHARP! the blade is razor sharp, so be careful. Cuts - beautiful straight cuts. Handles 3-4 sheets easily; 6 sheets is about max Sometimes it is a bit difficult to line up the cut just where I want it. Problem is easily solved by taking a moment to draw a cut line, just like a carpenter does with a piece of wood. before starting to saw. ... show more

  • Oh yeah, this is the GOOD stuff.
I've been stuck with one of those little cheapo sliding blade cutters for a while and got sick of how inaccurate and fiddly it was. I was a little wary when this one arrived, because it seems so lightweight and the other guillotine paper cutter I had back in the day was a big heavy brick... things Being Lighter tend to be an indication of lower quality in this day and age, you know? But no, this thing is a beast and I love it. Nice clear markings. It's so easy for me to cut things to the exact size I want without any confusion about where the actual line is, thanks to triangular measurement marks that don't leave room for ambiguity. It slices right through heavier materials like cardstock without shredding or crushing. I've only had it for a little while, so I can't speak to how well the self-sharpening blade self-sharpens, but so far I am very impressed. Swingline delivers. ... show more

  • A Helpful Home Tool
It so nice to have this available in my home! As others have commented, however, this paper cutter is most assuredly for a casual home crafter as opposed to be for a professional situation. The primary reason: it is not reliably precise in its cuts (not terribly so, though). And my assessment is that the reason mostly has to do with the flexibility of the blade arm. It can bend slightly as you work it because, well, it’s plastic. Makes sense. But it being plastic does make it lightweight. I can’t keep it out in my apartment, so the weight makes it easier to pick up and store it. When you open the box the first time, be prepared that the blue handle end will need to be “installed.” (A helpful note: you’ll need to push it into the end of the blade arm, and it has to be pushed hard enough and far enough into place that it makes a substantial “click” sound. Otherwise it could come detached during use) It’s not a very hard or inconvenient task, except that it wasn’t until I wanted to put it away that I realized that the blue handle, then, will remain sticking out of the end of the box for storage. (I have not attempted to try and take it out again after I initially installed it) Another important note I wanted to pass along is to be aware that the little rubber feet are not secure to the bottom. I chose not to try to permanently attach them, since them being able to move could help keep the cutter level on certain surfaces. Instead, I put them in a small plastic zip bag that I keep taped to the bottom of the cutter. Lastly, I have some information about the measurement tick marks along the top: 1) the tick marks aren’t inked all the way down to the main surface where you will be lining up your paper for cutting 2) the measurements shown are only “standard American,” meaning no metric 3) the smallest unit of measurement is only down to 1/8”. Overall, and while I have my criticisms, it’s a helpful, decent, affordable paper cutter for the casual crafter. I’m glad I made this purchase. ... show more

  • great cutter
This paper cutter works great. It's very light so we can move it easily and put it away when not in use. The blade is very sharp. I've used it for cutting heavy duty cardstock, vinyl decals and sublimation paper.

  • It's good for light use
I wouldn't suggest this if you cut things everyday, or need a truly exact cut. It's definitely good for light use though. I use to work at a print shop and are used to the feel & accuracy of a professional guillotine cutter. But now I'm a Mom just trying to cut some paper for my daughter's craft projects. Maybe some photos here and there. I miss a truly good cutter but this is the most affordable option for what we're doing now. It will cut maybe 2 - 3 sheets of copy paper at a time. Anymore and the accuracy goes way down due to it being so lightweight. The paper will skew at the bottom. ... show more

  • Great light-weight paper cutter
This paper cutter is mostly plastic, so is very light weight and portable. Interestingly, though, the light weight does not make it feel flimsy. It is a very sturdy, well built, cutter. Not surprisingly, as you get to the upper end of the capacity (10 sheets), the cutting gets a bit more difficult. But, it is still very easy to cut 10 sheets of paper - the blade is very sharp. The lock is VERY secure, sometimes even difficult to engage or disengage. This makes it a bit challenging to disengage the lock when you want to cut paper, so I found it easier to locate the cutter near the edge of the table/counter so I can more easily get to the lock. ... show more
