David is such a great pool guy that spreads a wealth of knowledge around to those willing to listen for free on Youtube. I have liked and subscribed to many of his free videos on YouTube and follow his advice for my 35,000 (20'x40') pool. So far so good with no hicups three years in and never have had to have a pool guy. This book is a great amount of recap if you watch his free videos online. If you're just starting out it is a great place to begin without watching the videos. He lays down the basics and more and if you take the time to learn and pay attention to what he says, you will have great results on your pool. Not going to say effortless because pool care is work especially vacuuming and cleaning without a pool guy but I love the independence of doing it myself and understanding the chemistry. This book will get you on the same levels as most pool guys to do their work yourself. Love this book. Easy to follow and if there’s something you don’t understand there’s videos to clarify. I’m new to pool maintenance and had no idea what chemicals to use to balance the water in my new pool or property maintain the equipment associated with my pool. This book (and his podcasts) have made my life more easy. I’m far from an expert, but I’m not afraid of the pool maintenance like I was at in the beginning. ... show more

The information is hard to get because you have to point your smart phone at the blurry CR codes to get the information you need.

I have struggled keeping a pool for 10 years. After an alge outbreak I bought this book. I have learned so much from it. Could be useful once I've learned more about swimming pools, but not for the first-time pool owner like me. I need more basic information about the pool and its appliances, and will look elsewhere for that, hoping that this book will be useful after I understand the essentials.
