My cat is not considered a long hair nor is it short either. Works perfectly for his fur length. Needed something that would help with his lower tangles. This works perfectly. I love the fact that it releases the loose fur when you have accumulated a bunch. I feel the bristles aren't too sharp with the little protective tips. Stands up to a lot of brushing. I love the brush the ease of use, the smoothness, the fact that it easily removes hair from the bristles. No scratching the skin, my skiddish german shepherd adores it and it made dematting my pomeranian easy and smooth. My only beef is I irdered purple, it came in black.
