The knife and the flash light that comes with it are junk. I thought it was a walking staff with all the attachments, I was wrong. It would be nice if they would put more attachments so it could also be used as a hiking stick.

You don't want to find yourself trying to use these for the first time in a bind, as it's a bit difficult to get the hang of what is happening with the tools. A little bit of prep goes a long way. Some of the tools are more useful than others - the shovel, axe, and flashlight are pretty helpful, but the multitool (which is also the knife in the photo, not a separate item), screwdriver bits, cable, etc., should likely be left behind. You'd be better off with a better-built option for those. The shovel and handles need screwing together, and once you get that figured out, super helpful (better at digging catholes than backcountry shovels by a mile). The tools are easy to clean, and will likely last long enough to get your money's worth. This would be a good starter kit, then once you figure out what you need for most trips, getting something purpose-built when you have the money would be a good move. ... show more

Flashlight did not have a rechargeable batteries so it doesn’t work or need to putchase the battery separately. The battery contact spring in the inside of the flashlight was also broken.
