  • Console is awesome but....
Console works great. Most games play good. Controllers are the bad part....buttons stick and there is a very bad lag between controller and console no matter the distance. Does bring back memories though.

  • A good little emulator box
I picked this up after seeing it demoed on YouTube, so I knew what I was getting into. It's met most of my expectations so far. The Good: - It uses EmuElec/RetroArch and everything is already preconfigured for you. - It has a good selection of consoles and handhelds. From esoteric stuff like the Vectrex to powerhouses like the Nintendo DS - The game and console selection hits most of the high points of emulation, with PSX titles alongside arcade stuff like MAME and Final Burn Neo. Even Atomiswave and Naomi are represented. - It's relatively easy to add games to it - Extensive options allow you to customize what systems are shown, as well as individual game settings - Since it's running Android, you can plug in a wide variety of controllers and they just work - Easy to set up, just plug in the appropriate connections and power on The Bad: - The controllers it comes with are not good. No analog buttons other than the two joysticks - Around 60% of the games (~30,000) are on old computer systems like Atari 800, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Sharp 68000, Amstrad, etc. Of these, many require a keyboard, many are not in English - The game count is inflated thanks to the aforementioned computer games. For example, a game that has five disks counts as six games: one for the entry that will actually play, then one entry for each of the disks. - A lot of game descriptions are missing or in another language, usually Spanish or Portuguese. - Some games don't work due to bad ROMs (which I might be able to fix if I can find a good working ROM to replace a bad one), others don't work due to the hardware not being able to run them. - The N64 is represented in the console list with 250+ games, but many won't work. Goldeneye and Starcraft run, but not in a quality that is playable; Perfect Dark causes the box to lock up, requiring a hard reset. - There are a significant number of game duplicates due to regional copies. So having the Japanese version of a game and the North American version is counted as two games. - Some systems are represented but have almost no games. Sega CD is here, but with only Final Fight CD and Sonic CD. No Lunar, no Shining Force CD, no Night Trap, no Vay, no Snatcher. That looks like a significant number of cons, but I'm fairly satisfied with this thing despite all that. I have not delved too deep into the many options EmuElec and RetroArch have available, and that might help alleviate some of the downsides I noted. Besides, 50,000 games is such a wild number, I'm not chuffed that some don't work. I've been gaming for almost 40 years and reckon I have not even played 1000 games in all that time. While pretty much everything preloaded on this box is technically available for free online, having it all downloaded and configured on a single device was worth my money. I'm looking forward to expanding the game selection a bit, and maybe even hooking up a keyboard to try some of those old text adventure games. ... show more

  • Great retro experience
I was skeptical about this console based off several YouTube videos. I'm glad to say that my experience has been good thus far. So many games to choose from. I will admit there are multiple duplicate games to scroll thru however I'm sure you can still find d your old school favorites. Wireless joysticks are good with the retro games and work well. Configuration on the button layout for the advance systems needs to be done but the 16bit and lowers systems work fine. ... show more

  • Awesome but there are quirks
My kids and I love the system over all as it has so many games and they are endless it seems. However , one of the games I enjoyed the most seemed to freeze once you get into it so far. Also the dream cast driven games are messed up with the controller so you would have to go into the controller to set it up. I did this several times but it was just not worth the effort from my opinion. It’s easier to just not play the ones the controller has to be changed around for. The ones it does work well on are plenty enough to justify this system. Well worth the purchase in my opinion. ... show more

  • Geared for the Casual Gamer...
This unit has TONS of great, better known, "retro" console and arcade games. A vast majority of those games run, and run smoothly. There are a lot of other gaming systems included that may not interest you. Warning, a few of the games may not even run due to programing errors. I bought it basically for the Arcade, MAME, FB-Neo, Neo Geo, PSX-1, Sega DC, NES, SNES, N64 gaming experience. I was not disappointed! It is highly recommended to clone the system microSD card to ensure you have a complete back-up of the system & ALL the games. NOTE: The stock EmuElec v3.9 operating system runs perfectly well on this system hardware. It is NOT RECOMMENDED to upgrade this unit to the EmuElec v4.0 operating system. ... show more

  • Just Wow!
Literally the best 120 dollars I have ever spent. I get to play every single game I played as a kid including nearly every arcade game I could think of. How could I not be happy. I have had it 2 weeks and have already gotten my money's worth. I bought an 8bitdo USB controller. SN30 pro. Works perfectly. My wife was fine with the ones it came with. It comes with 2.4 ghz controllers so I don't know if Bluetooth controllers work. Maybe I'll try my sons Xbox ones. ... show more

  • Died After Very Light Use
My son enjoyed this some of the time. Some games froze and some were unplayable, but he was pretty happy with it. Then last week after 7 months of extremely light use, the unit stopped loading the emulator software. Reddit has a fix to download the software, but it looks like a pain. This Christmas present turned out to be a dud as it is out of support time frame. Can't recommend, as 7 months is not a great duration for an over $100 item. ... show more
