  • SWR problems on VHF frequencies
I have a dual band antenna mounted to the tailgate of my Jeep Wrangler, but there’s a couple of inches at the base of the antenna that are adjacent to the metal. So I bought this thinking I could use it to raise the antenna high enough to clear the metal tailgate. On UHF I get a decent SWR of about 1.3:1, but on VHF it shoots up to 2:1. Removing the extension gets both back down to around 1.2:1. I’m going to test it again using my CB antenna and radio. If that works okay, I’ll keep it for that purpose.
